…width and breadth…

???????????

…each of these photos have been taken from either within what will be the new Masjid or in the courtyard to be of the new King Abdullah expansion plans…in each photo as far as the eye can see will be part of the new expansion…the diagram at the end of the post attempts, along with the visual captures, to give some idea of the gigantic scale of the project…mind boggling…still cannot comprehend the sheer size of this…

…all photos, except the last two, taken mid morning on the second day of Eid…hence not many yet out and about…the last two taken this afternoon…

…the Green Palace hotel is no longer…along with the one on the right and the two behind it…

???????????

???????????

…*sigh*…what is the fate of Masjid Bukhari?…the lamp on the right is attached to the Green Palace…such fixtures will soon be stripped away in preparations for the detonation…

???????????

…the enormity of demolishing what were functioning hotels is made even more clear as one looks at the intricate systems for facilities on the roof…

???????????

…vacant and stripped of the air conditioners…once Hajj season is over serious work will begin on this area…

???????????

…the scene inside one of the barriers…

???????????

…the unique fluted minaret of Masjid Bukhari reflected in what not ago was an elegant hotel entrance…

???????????

…many locals wondering why these hotels could not have remained open at least until after peak time of Hajj?…this is the hotel that was evacuated some time ago due to a fire…

position 5 looking towards the new western courtyard area…the leaning partially demolished building still remains as well as the library…earlier photos here…from September 25th…*sigh* what is the fate of Saqeefa which is a little further to the right of this leaning building…

width breadth expansion

…thus is the width and breadth of the new expansion…

…and…if…once the majority of hotels are in the south…and if…the sisters will be allocated areas in the far northern sections of the new expansion…has it been considered how sisters, especially the elderly…and let’s face it…the majority of pilgrims fall into this category…how will they be expected to move the long distances from the south to the north?…already it is a lengthy walk across the courtyard and made even more of an obstacle as one weaves in and out of the crowd…

,,,and another and…there is a rumour a committee has been formed to look into ways of expanding the area around the Rowdha Shareef for times of sisters’ Ziyarah…

…May Allah Ta’ala guide and save us all and shower all the changes in the Haramain with His Rahmah and Noor…Ameen…

All good is from Allah Ta’ala whereas mistakes are from this humble speck. May Allah Ta’ala Bless all readers, bringing you all closer to Him and His Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.  May He accept our humble efforts and grant us the capacity to be good and do good. Ameen.

Wa ‘alaikumus Salam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
    Dear S,
Alhumdulillah for being a neighbour to our Beloved Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.
I apologize for not being able to meet. The Hajj season is an extremely busy time meeting close ones. Due to many factors it is not possible to meet as I used to, even though the heart loves to, but there comes a time when one has to face ones limitations that Allah Ta’ala has gifted one, and to respect this with grace and gratitude. This is my reality now Alhumdulillah.
Insha’Allah your time here is filled with the brilliance of the Noor and Barakah the City offers and you take the time to truly strengthen your connection with the Prince of the City SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. This is far greater than meeting this speck.
    Love and Du’a
    Wassalamu alaikum

    Salaams to you dear Sister,
Once again your blog and pictures brings back such memories, and sadness that this will be engulfed in the new expansion project. What a shame that such beautiful buildings like the Masjid Bukhari will be demolished , such architecture can never be replaced. One report says 126 masjids will be demolished for the expansion, brings tears to the eyes. Once again Jzkl Khyr for your updates which us far away from this beloved city and abode of our Prophet SAW appreciate more than can be imagined. May Allah reward you in both worlds and give you strength and health to continue this great work.
    Wassalaam.
