…recently…

rusty intro copy

Madinah 2015 May10

…recently we have been days without water…and other times without electricity…the first thought always is ‘just how did our predecessors cope?’…it is so hot…once the AC’s whine to a halt the heat is stifling and oppressive…wudhu with the barest amount of water is incredibly spiritually uplifting…that is if the mood is not one of irritation as dishes pile high and there is no chance of a shower and the hope of getting a water tanker is almost zilch unless one has hours (not to mention extortion word) to wait in a black market queue… Khair Alhumdulillah…life takes on a much slower pace when water no longer flows from a tap…water truly is a trust which most of us take for granted…

Madinah 2015 May13

…recently…cute little ones intrigued with the workmen constructing the external drink/wudhu facilities adjacent to the #9 women’s ablution block…cute until the little munchkin in the orange took my chair and refused to give it back!! SubhanAllah…his resolve to fight and not let go and to stare me out was unbelievable…khair Alhumdulillah…we made up later when a few kind words of tarbiyah, a pat on the head and a SR1 was handed over…*kids*…

Madinah 2015 May2

…recently…wandering this eastern section…mulling over how after Hajj these hotels will be the next to be demolished…

Madinah 2015 May1

…recently outside the entrance to Masjid Bukhari…wondering how long this beautiful relief will remain…

Madinah 2015 May8

…recently…the temptation to invade this selfie stick shot took hold…Alhumdulillah they giggled and really wanted an anonymous intruder…best I not use the ‘b’er word…

Madinah 2015 May12

…recently with the sizzle conditions the misty fans are working throughout the day…

Madinah 2015 May9

…recently…after months of passing this van in the underground car park with the wheel lock on it a photo was finally taken…someone must miss this…and just how long do they leave an unclaimed vehicle before towing it away?…there are dozens in our little locality…rotting away…taking valuable parking spaces…boggling…all still with number plates so surely owners can be traced?…

Madinah 2015 May3

…recently…at exactly the same time every afternoon about one hour after Asr there is an exodus of the pavement vendors…with police and the municipality staff urging them to move along…and beware of being in the way of these ‘escaping’ trolley pushers…

Madinah 2015 May7

…recently…peering inside the barrier where demolition has come to a stand still, one is met with the usual rubbish dumped…even though bins are within a few metres…

Madinah 2015 May11

…recently…watching children use the courtyard as their playground…and noting the rods that were attached for disposing plastic shoe bags have not been filled for weeks and weeks…

Madinah 2015 May5

…recently noticed in Saqeefa garden…drilling for what?…

Madinah 2015 May6

…recently pausing to listen to the bird’s Dhikr…fill the heart with green and the lungs with oxygen…

Madinah 2015 May4

…recently…this art work on a neighbouring building makes this speck smile…Alhumdulillah…

    Dear sister
    Salaams

I was once hit by the escaping trolleys while on an Umrah trip. They are definitely lethal…I had a massive bruise to show for it:). Keep up the good work…I really enjoy your posts and photographs Alhamdulilah. Take care.

    Love
    Afshan
