rusty intro copy

Turkish carrier for Kiswahs Darul Museum Madinah1

…there is so much to see and learn from this museum…one visit is not enough…each time one returns some new information is gleaned…Masha’Allah…

…this is the lavishly embellished ‘tent’ that protected the gift of new Kiswahs for the Ka’abah and the Mubarak Hujrah from Sultan Sulaiman bin Ibrahim ibn Salem, the grandson of Sulaiman the Magnificent…the information from the guide saying this was transported in the year 1204AH…which is approximately 231 years ago…and Allah Knows best…

Arafat 1918 photographic print Library of Congress

…this is not the above howdah but from 1918 when a similar gift of the Ka’abah Kiswah from Turkey was being transported to Makkah…an amazing procession guarded by heavily armed security…some things do not change…

1606 ottoman kaaba kiswa

…and this is the 1606 Ottoman Ka’abah door covering…the passion for our Sacred Places alive in hearts throughout our glorious history as seen through these skillful creative expressions …Insha’Allah we keep this flame burning bright and instill such a passion in the young, Ameen…

Qaswa Darul Madinah Museum

…children are moved by the heart tugging story of Qaswa, our Blessed Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam’s faithful camel…after his SallAllahu alaihi wasallam demise, Qaswa refused to eat or drink and her eyesight was affected due to her constant weeping…some narrations say she became blind and Allah Ta’ala knows best…the Sahabah RadhiAllahu anhum tied a cloth around her eyes to ease the suffering…SubhanAllah…

Khandaq model Darul Madinah Museum

…this model of Khandaq portrays the proportions of just how ambitious and gruelling the task was…SubhanAllah…allow the mind to imagine you are one of the Sahabah RadhiAllahu anhum working on this trench during the heat of Ramadhan…

model of Janazah Baqi Madinah1

…and this model of Jannatul Baqi brings tears…we may read, hear how the burial is, it must be so emotional for brothers fortunate to attend a Janazah…SubhanAllah…but for those of us who cannot not then these models impart such deep feelings…

model of Janazah Baqi Madinah2

…I beg for you to take a few seconds to make Du’a that this humble sinner’s end is in Jannatul Baqi Ameen…

copy of Uthman Mushaf Darul Madinah Museum

…copy of the Mushaf as attributed to the Uthman ibn ‘Affan Mushaf as seen in the Topkapi Palace Istanbul Turkey

…yet more from the Museum in the next post…Insha’Allah…

All good is from Allah Ta’ala whereas mistakes are from this humble speck. May Allah Ta’ala Bless all readers, bringing you all closer to Him and His Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.  May He accept our humble efforts and grant us the capacity to be good and do good. Ameen.

Oh wow….subhanAllah beautiful post! I just love to learn of our Islamic history and our Islamic art and subhanAllah when I go on Umrah (Insha’Allah) I will definitely visit this museum. The pictures are amazing, I can’t stop looking at them.

How generous of you to give us the scent of the breeze of Madina and allow some of its nur to emanate from the screen, mashaAllah, it is tugging my heart more than ever these days – full of longing to go the Holy Cities.

Much love and duas for you and your family, and convey my salaams to RasulAllah sallAllahya alayhi wa sallam.
    Jazakimullahu khayran

The model of Jannatul Baqi is indeed touching, made more so by your humble request for duas to be buried there, sister, inshaAllah Allah SWT will fulfil this beautiful and profound longing of yours, somehow your words convey the intensity of your feelings – verily you deserve it for bringing so many so close to Him and His Messenger, spiritually if not physically…
