Dome after ziyarah

It’s enough honour, nobleness, eminence and virtue for the Muslim servant’s name to be mentioned in the presence of Allah Ta’ala’s Chosen One SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. This is elucidated in the words of the one who said:

Truly he deserves to rise and go forward

He who is brought to his attention

And another said:

Welcome to the one in whose presence I do not deserve to be

The statement of the bringer of good news,

Foreboding and opening after despair

To you belong glad tiding so cast away that which is upon you

For you were mentioned despite your faults.

Sending prayers upon the Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam is a means for the name of the person sending them to be presented to the Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam and having his name mentioned in his noble presence.

I call upon you, O Best of Creation

By whom Allah seated the Prophets and Messengers

The Prophet of guidance: were it not for you

I would not know any guidance

And were it not for you

The lawful and the unlawful I would not know

By Allah! Were it not for you

That which exists would not be

And the Merciful would not have created a part or a whole!

Al-Hafiz Rashid al-Din al-Attar:

O you who hope for recompense and reward

And expiation for past sins that weigh heavily on your back

See that you are assiduous in prayers

Upon Ahmad the Guide, the Intercessor of human kind

The best of Allah’s creation from Adam’s seed

And the purest scion and noblest pride

Authentic it is that Allah, Exalted in His Might

Sends ten prayers for the person who send one

So may Allah send prayers upon him as long as the dark night yearns

And the celestial bodies ascend the horizon at dawn!

O best of those whose bones are buried in the deep earth,

And from whose fragrance the depth

And the height have become sweet,

May I be the ransom for a grave which thou inhabit

And in which are found purity, bounty and munificence

You are the Prophet whose intercession is hoped for

And the Traverse when the feet slip.

Beloved who resides in the heart and is never absent

Your likeness is before my eyes and your mention is on my lips

Your abode is in my heart so to where will you disappear?

Indeed, you reside in a heart

A heart without needs for lamps

Indeed you visit the sick

He is living, filling the heart

I shall not forget him that I need to remember him

Despite his absence from my hearing and sight

He is in my heart, and so I behold him.
