…Eid Kareem::Eidul Fitr 1435…

By In

One Eid the Abbasid Caliph Harun al-Rashid donned his splendid imperial robes, mounted his horse and rode into the street. The soldiers cleared the Sultan’s path, while the people gave him an ovation, gazing admiringly at his beautifully embroidered robes. At that moment Bahlul the Wise Fool barred the Sultan’s progress, reciting some stanzas containing guidance for Harun and, through him, for us. The gist of them was as follows:

The Festival is not a matter of dressing up in

fine new clothes.

The Festival is celebrated by serving Allah

and being aware of your Lord.

To celebrate the Festival is to be Sultan of the

heart, not Sultan of the realm.

Sultans of the realm pass into oblivion, but the

Sultan of the heart is never forgotten.

To celebrate the Festival is to be delivered from the

divine punishment at the Resurrection.

The Festival is not a matter of wearing perfumes, but

of being sorry for one’s sins,

repenting and not committing them again.

The Festival is not about riding on horseback, but about

giving up faults.

The Festival is not about sitting on the imperial throne,

but about crossing the dreadful Bridge,

to sit on the thrones of Paradise.

The Festival is celebrated not by boasting of palaces

and power, but by bringing the light

to the darkness of the tomb and equipping

it through good works.

This brought Harun al-Rashid to tears.

Kul ‘Aam wa Antum BiKhair

TaqabbAllahu minna wa minkum!

…and now may intentions turn to the Mubarak six fasts of Shawwal, Insha’Allah!…along with constant begging Allah Ta’ala, for SIX months, to accept our fasting, just as the Sahabah RadhiAllahu anhum did…oh what fikr…

…the above Bahlul story from a previous Eid post…there are so many in the archives…almiskenah has purposefully avoided the chaos in nearby Quba Street this Eid…(as was bravely encountered last year) …a necessary wander there the other evening saw me become part of a huge black swarm akin to several flocks of crows diving onto a single piece of bread…that was enough to swiftly do what had to be done then retreat to the seclusion of home where protecting ones’ Iman is easier and where one can seriously contemplate how Eid must be for so many suffering in the Muslim world…may time be made during our days of festivities making Du’a for them, Ameen…

All good is from Allah Ta’ala whereas mistakes are from this humble speck. May Allah Ta’ala Bless all readers, bringing you all closer to Him and His Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.  May He accept our humble efforts and grant us the capacity to be good and do good. Ameen.

    Salam dear sister

I hope you and yours have a pleasant eid. And let’s remember our brothers and sisters in gaza, Syria, Iraq and all those other places that have sadly become home to suffering and dispare.

No doubt the blessed city must be witnessing a whirl of mercy upon completion of this noble month.

A special Salam to my beloved, I hope this list is re-aired in the month of sawal.

Wa ‘alaikumus Salam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
      Dear Brother Ali and family,
may that ‘whirl of mercy’ be whirling across all lands where suffering is testing the Ummah, Ameen. May we all keep changing the condition of our heart so that Allah Ta’ala changes the condition of the Ummah, and be earnest with Du’a during Tahajjud, Ameen.
      Wassalamu alaikum

As-Salaamu ‘alaykum wa RahmatUllahi wa BarakaatuHu and Eid Mubarak.

Dear Sister, I wanted to ask something. We have heard that Imam al-Busiri (may Allah be well-pleased with him forever) found the Burdah of our Nabi SallAllahu ‘alayHi wa AaliHi waSallam when he woke up from his Blessed Dream. Would you have any idea where that Burdah Sharif is kept?

    Jazak Allah Khayran Katheeraa.

Wa ‘alaikumus Salam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
      Dear Sister Rukh-e-Naz,
I have no idea about this. Maybe contact the great contemporary scholars who have translated the Burdah. They would have deeper knowledge and their scholarly research may have revealed this information.
Did I contact you regarding the other question you asked so long ago? Apologies but I can’t remember 🙁
      Wassalamu alaikum

As-Salaamu ‘alaykum wa RahmatUllahi wa BarakaatuHu.

Jazaki Allah Khayran Katheera for your response.

About that previous question which was about the Holy Father of our Beloved Prophet, SallAllahu ‘alayHi wa AaliHi wa Sallama da’iman ‘abadaa. You did answer, but you said you would do some research and tell us in time, but its been a while since then. I think a year.

We had heard: that when one of the saudi Kings extended Al-Masjid An-Nabawi SallAllahu ‘alayHi waSallam at one point, the original Blessed Grave of Sayyidna Abd Allah (Allah be well-pleased with Him forever) came under the planned area. So, according to the fatwa issued at the time, His Blessed Grave was unearthed and the Holy Body of Sayyidna ‘Abd Allah (Allah be well-pleased with Him forever) was taken out – fresh and fragrant as if He was just resting, as the earth is prohibited upon the Bodies of the Awliya-e-Saliheen, Allah be well-pleased with them all. For some days people were allowed to make Ziyarah of His Highness, the Father of God’s Beloved, the Father of the King of Two Abodes, Sayyidna ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Abd al-Muttalib (God bless His Beloved and His Household and Ancestors and grant Them peace). He was then buried with a fresh Janazah Salah in Jannat ul-Baqi.

You also wrote in your ‘Ziyarah’ list: “Place where ‘Abdullah father of RasulUllah SallAllahu alaiHi waSallam was originally buried”. So we wanted to know about the authenticity of the above event, and where that Place was, from you, since you wrote it in your ‘Ziyarah’ list, and you live in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah ma sha Allah.

        Jazaki Allah Khayran Katheera.
        Sister Rukh-e-Naz
