…body on the Dome myth…

By In

This was a miracle happened around 90 years ago narrated by Sheikh Al-Zubaidi.
A person tried to demolish the Dome of  Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) –  Masjad Al Nabawi (Gumbad-e-Khizra).However, when some one climbed over the dome to start the demolition, a sudden Lightning struck him and the climber died at the spot and no one was able to remove his body from the top of the dome!!! It was also said that a pious man from Madina heard a voice in his dream that no one can take out the dead body from the Dome and that he should be buried their as a warning and a lesson for those who may think of attempting to demolish it in future!!!
Finally, they decided to bury the man right there on the dome and to cover his body with a green box so it won’t be visible to people.

From several forwarded emails that seem to make their way around cyberspace every now and then.

This is a fake one circulated by the Shi’ahs… Actually this brick was placed by the Turks in the remembrance of the incident when ppl came to Syedatuna Ayesha and requested her to pray for the Rain. She advised to remove the brick or the leaves or whatever was on the roof right above the Blessed Qabar Sharif of Syeduna Rasoolullah Sallallaho Alaihi wa Sallam through which ALLAH Kareem will bless us the Rain! Her advised was implemented and it start raining. So this brick is said to be right above the Qabar Sharif!!
This is all what I know from my resources.. ALLAH and His Habeeb Knows and Best!!

A copied and pasted explanation of a brother residing here.

While a Sayyed Saudi al-Madani Shaykh says it is simply wiring to do with earthing and/or acoustics/security.

And Allah the Almighty knows best.

Insha’Allah, if you can shed light on this do share information, or the source of the mentioned Hadith of our Lady Ayeshah RadhiAllahu anha.

All good is from Allah Ta’ala whereas mistakes are from this humble speck. May Allah Ta’ala Bless all readers, bringing you all closer to Him and His Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.  May He accept our humble efforts and grant us the capacity to be good and do good. Ameen.

In the history of the construction of the dome, I read that this was a small window that was put in to allow some light into the inner burial chamber. As the whole burial chamber is sealed, this is the only source of light. I have never heard of that hadith of Aisha (ra).

Al-Darimi in the Chapter 15 of the Muqaddima (Introduction) to his Sunan (1:43) entitled: “Allah’s generosity to His Prophet after his death,” relates from Aws ibn `Abd Allah with a good chain:

“The people of Madina complained to `A’isha of the severe drought that they were suffering. She said: “Go to the Prophet’s grave and open a window towards the sky so that there will be no roof between him and the sky.” They did so, after which they were watered with such rain that vegetation grew and the camels got fat. That year was named the Year of Plenty.”

I think I agree with the notion that this is a window on the blessed dome but Allahu Alim.

Assalamu alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
there always seems to be strange beliefs floating around Dear Sister Yasmin.
JazakiLlahu khaira Dear Sister Farzana…yes there was a window made in the Dome, as well as the internal dome, as seen in the diagram from this previous post
    but obviously sealed now,
and JazakumuLlahu khaira Dear Brother Bushrat for finding the reference, Masha’Allah! And Allahu ‘Alum if the window was built into the Dome because of our Lady Ayeshah RadhiAllahu anha’s words? According to the diagram there is a ceiling under the Dome so Allahu ‘Alum as to what light could have entered? But with the Light SallAllahu alaihi wasallam from Allah Ta’ala’s LIGHT being the noble resident then all this is hyperbole 🙂
Indeed Dear Sister Iffat…I too could sit there transfixed till the End of Times 🙂 and never tire of looking at photos of it when not near.
JazakumuLlahu khaira Dear Brother Ahamed for sending the scan and for sharing the video link. Unfortunately the feet area was shut to sisters…the duty sisters saying there were ‘special’ brothers, probably from the royals visiting at the time, so once again the barrier was in place and sisters missed yet another opportunity to access this side. Insha’Allah I will contact you soon.
    Wassalamu alaikum

Brothers and sisters i appreciate you people bring light on the discussion. However, I would like to remind you all of something that lady you all are referring to is not a common lady. She is my Mother, She is your Mother and she is the mother of all ummah. Because she is the beloved wife of our beloved prophet Mohammed SAW. So, requesting you all to show some respect. Rather referring my mother as a lady you can just use full name as a reference.

May Allah SWT grant us with the best knowledge of Deen and allow us to develop good characters in ourselves. Ameen Summa Ameen

i find it interesting how we can refer this story to the time of Lady Ayesha when the green tomb didn’t even exist back then. here is a brief history of the green dome. if any thing happened to the dome it happened after 1481 :
The dome over the grave of the Muhammad dates back to the reign of Sultan Qala’un or Al Mansur Qalawun.[2] The original structure was built of wood and was colourless[3] before being painted white and blue after every restoration taken place by new rulers. After a serious fire struck the Mosque of the Prophet in Medina in 1481, the mosque and dome had been burnt and a restoration project was initiated by Sultan Qaitbay who had most of the wooden base replaced by a brick structure in order to prevent the collapse of the dome in the future, in case of another disaster and used plates of lead to cover the new wooden dome, the building, including the Tomb of the Prophet, was extensively renewed through Qaitbay’s patronage[4]
Under the Ottomans, Abdul Hamid II ordered that the dome be painted green and has remained so since.

Wa ‘alaikumus Salam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
    Dear Sister Fatimah,
JazakiLlahu khaira for you input to this fascinating topic…but the meaning of the discussion is that the ‘windows’, as seen in the diagrams in the link from my previous comments are ‘symbolic’ of the advice our Lady Ayesha RadhiAllahu anha, gave the people of Madinah. Insha’Allah this clarifies the situation.

I Love to read history, I Love to explore the mysteries as every body does,
well as per my Opinion its a grave of Shaikh Ahmad ( an Indian Potter ) as he was a great lover of holly prophet and he was trying hard to get in Madina just to visit his beloved Prophet but due to poverty he could not arrange it, so once he dreamed that holly prophet invites him in Madina, after several days when he kept dreaming the same and one day he being informed that go to so and so place and come in Madina as there is Some miner Creaks on the Dome so he should come and fix them… So he left from home for madina and reached on the Seaport and there was a person who was awaiting for him that person told him to get in the ship and the same thing happened in Saudi that there was someone was waiting for him and he take him to the MADINA and then they asked him to do the work of the Dome, Shaikh Ahmed Climbed at the dome and then after fixing the Creaks just Laid down and then never getup. and none can remover his body from there….

Its a story which i Read ,, And of course God Almighty is the best Knowing of Every thing….

    Assalam O Alekum!!

Allah Almighty knows the truths but as per my little knowledge & research Sister Fatima Agha`s information is correct. Infact if we consider this Rewayat By Hazrat Aysha R.A then below it ll be confusion again…

“When Saud bin Abdul-Aziz took Medina in 1805, his followers, the Wahhabis, demolished nearly every tomb dome in Medina based on their belief that the veneration of tombs and places thought to possess supernatural powers was an offense against tawhid.[6] Muhammad’s tomb was stripped of its gold and jewel ornaments, but the dome was preserved either because of an unsuccessful attempt to demolish its hardened structure, or because some time ago Ibn Abd al-Wahhab wrote that he did not wish to see the dome destroyed despite his aversion to people praying at the tomb.[7] Similar events took place in 1925 when the Saudi militias retook—and this time managed to keep—the city.[8][9][10] In 2007, according to the The Independent, a pamphlet, published by the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs and endorsed by the grand mufti of Saudi Arabia, stated that “the green dome shall be demolished and the three graves flattened in the Prophet’s Masjid”.[11]”

If that rewayat is true then it means Wahabi ppl doing sumthing against it????

    Dear Syed Khurram Gillani,
Allahu ‘alum…so many stories abound…I feel it best we restrict our time and energies on a strong daily practice of following the Commands of our Rabb and the Sunnah of His Habib SallAllahu alaihi wasallam…doing this with true Iman and Ihsan is hard enough without distractions of what might happen and myths surrounding the Mubarak Dome. May Allah Ta’ala continue to bless us all with Hidayah, Ameen.

Your explanation of this myth doesn’t make is clear from the pic it is not a brick it is very much larger than a brick…its a grave.Secondly correct your sources

For more than 650 years after the Prophet ?allall?hu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All?h be upon him) passed away, there was no dome over his ?allall?hu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All?h be upon him) grave. The first one was built in 1279 by a Mamluk sultan and was made of wood. The green dome that we see today is actually the outer dome over the room of the Prophet ?allall?hu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All?h be upon him)

you are comparing event of 6 century with the 12 century doesn’t make sense how that brick( which was not the brick)relates with this.

This not strange when wahabi ideology is to demolish tombs and they did demolished many tombs jannatul baqi in saudi and at present in syria of waliallah then the question is why would they not try to demolish the grave or tomb of prophet sawa this incident is true and as for quotation of hadees of h ayesha this dome was not there at that time and even if u say it was a window why would the saudi not fill the gap in dome completely rather than sealing the window dont they have enough money or enginiers to built the dome completely and fill the gap

Assalamu alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
    Dear Brothers Jawad and Syed,
I think you are both misunderstanding the nature of the Hadith and trying to make the ‘window’ mentioned in it by our Lady Ayesha RadhiAllahu as being being maintained in a literal form. According to authentic drawings and accounts of inside the Mubarak Hujrah, and LONG before the Dome was erected, (and by the way I have posted about the construction and subsequent changes etc to the Dome…so with sue respect have ‘checked my sources’) there was a small ‘window’ or opening in the ceiling, which subsequent designers of the Dome have maintained in honour of our Mother Ayesha RadhiAllahu. The ‘word’ brick in no way means a literal brick…nor does it equate with the size of what you seem to be imagining a brick.
It is not a matter of money or engineers ‘filling in a gap’…it is a matter of honouring the source and wording of the Hadith, and perpetuating the essence of the Hadith in the hope Allah Ta’ala blessing Madinatun Nabi with rains.
And all will be revealed on the Day of Qiyamah and Allah the Almighty knows best.
    Wassalamu alaikum
