…snap::thirty…

We come…seeking your gaze, eyes impure and blemished from dreams and fantasizing life’s distractions.
While your luminous black eyes, framed by noble long lashes, cast a loving glow illuminating the heavens.

We come…searching your smile, mouths sullied and tainted from gossip, backbiting and idle talk.

While the gentleness of your countenance radiates a tranquil aura dispersing all weaknesses.

We come…dawdling to you, limbs lazy and heaving as slaves to sloth and consumerist whims.

While your compassionate guiding steps rejuvenate indifferent desires for embracing your Sunnah.

We come…greeting you, hands brazenly wretched, time wasting talons clutching fake trinkets.

While you tenderly reach out, your unconditional light of truth obliterating the gloomy darkness.

We come…conversing, minds polluted with excessive nonsense, overflowing detritus numbing the soul.

While your sanctified words transform bewilderment to enlightenment.

We come…praising your perfection, deeds shamelessly decorated with ostentation and arrogance.

While your dignified station and the bearer of Allah’s promise, endears one to alchemize faults to gold.

We come…weeping for your affection, hearts frail, devoid of passion for the Garden’s Eternal Enchantment.

While your presence rouses hopes as you disregard lapses and instill contentment with the mere utterance of your name.

We come…addressing you, prayers empty of devotion; a profusion of nagging whispers.

While your worship had no end, a pristine sincerity shining as brightness itself, a beacon for your Ummah.

We come…begging from you, relationships smashed, severed, abused and neglected.

While your caress embodies the spirit of justice, a servant of the Majestic, imparting fairness to all.

We come…yearning, aching; deeds contrary, a nonillion swarms of disobedience.

While you the preferred one, the emblem of certainty, the holy trusted one, the beloved of Allah, the one brought near to His Divine Presence, our honoured intercessor, sent as a mercy to all the worlds, accept our every Salawaat and Salaam.

…contemplating the life of Abu Bakr As Siddiq RadhiAllahu anhu during the month Allah Ta’ala chose to take him back to Him…by visiting where he would offer the Eid Salat when he was Caliph…

…Our Beloved Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam said, “The sun never rose nor set on anyone better than Abu Bakr RadhiAllahu anhu except prophets” (Tarikh al-Khulafa’ of Suyuti) and “Abu Bakr RadhiAllahu anhu does not precede you in anything in the way of prayer or fasting but in a secret rooted deep in his heart.” (Manaqib as-Sahaba of Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal)…

…reflect upon some of his words of wisdom…

  • Without knowledge action is useless and knowledge without action is futile.
  • Run away from greatness and greatness will follow you.
  • There is greatness in the fear of God, contentment in faith of God, and honour in humility.
  • If you expect Allah Ta’ala’s blessings, be good to His people.
  • Death is the easiest of all things after it, and the hardest of all things before it.
  • Patience is half of faith, and confidence is full faith.
  • The greatest truth is honesty, and the greatest falsehood is dishonesty.
  • Maybe a thing that you do not like is really in your interest. It is possible that a thing that you may desire may be against your interest.
  • He who tastes love of Allah Ta’ala has no taste for the love of the world.
  • He who avoids complaint invites happiness.
  • It is a matter of shame that in the morning the birds should be awake earlier than you.
  • Our abode in this world is transitory, our life therein is but a loan, our breaths are numbered and our indolence is manifest.
  • Extend your charity with humbleness towards the poor for to give charity happily is a sign of acceptance.
  • Weep for the days gone by in which you have but earned little rewards.
  • There is no trouble in patience and there is no benefit in complaining.
  • True generosity is to remove the burdens of Creation and place it upon one’s own shoulders.

Abu Bakr As Siddiq RadhiAllahu anhu used to pray, “O Lord, render the best of my life at its close, the best of my deeds as the last, and the best of my days the day of Your meeting.”
