immersed…

The Pond and the Kawthar do not sleep-

Get up my beloved, how long will you sleep!

The Creator of creation does not sleep…

The Pen and the Tablet do not sleep…

Heaven and Hell do not sleep…

Sun and moon…Throne and Footstool…

Days and nights…mountains and oceans…

The right and the left, they do not sleep…

Sleep is forbidden for the lover:

Get up, my beloved, how long will you sleep?

From here,

…all the things that cannot sleep from the joy at the Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam’s birth…(p 157-8)

So let us not sleep and immerse the heart and soul in volumes expounding this joy…Insha’Allah!

All good is from Allah Ta’ala whereas mistakes are from this humble speck. May Allah Ta’ala Bless all readers, bringing you all closer to Him and His Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.  May He accept our humble efforts and grant us the capacity to be good and do good. Ameen.

…Sandala…Juma’ah…Chosen…

Honouring this Month of Lights, Sister Baraka of Madinatun Nabi had been creatively blessed to produce this art work inspired by our Noble Nabi SallAllahu alaihi wasallam’s Sandala, while incorporating six Ahadith expounding the virtues of Yaumul Juma’ah.

…on the day of Juma’ah hasten to the remembrance of Allah…(62:9)

Beginning with the right Sandala (bottom right hand corner), the Arabic text refers to the Hadith that encourages one to increase Salawaat on the eve and the day of Juma’ah.

Following the pattern of right print then left, the next one refers to the Hadith where our Beloved Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam said to the effect that the best Salat in the eyes of Allah Ta’ala is Salatul Fajr on the day of Juma’ah.

The third Sandala refers to the Hadith that states to the effect that the one who performs Ghusl on the day of Juma’ah, applies itr and wears their best clothes and goes to the Masjid with tranquility, sits and listens to the Khutbah, then it will be the removal of sins from the previous Juma’ah to the next.

The fourth Sandala refers to the recommendation of reading Suratul Khaf on Juma’ah.

The fifth Sandala refers to the Hadith that states to the effect that the best Sadaqah is that given on the day of Juma’ah.

And the final Sandala refers to the Hadith that states to the effect that there is one hour on the day of Juma’ah where Du’a is accepted.

Insha’Allah, Sister Baraka is offering prints of this work for sale. You may contact her here for details.

The deep void of black nothingness
was chosen to receive the Light.
The ink from the pearly ruby Pen
was chosen to scribe the Light
The Preserved Tablet
was chosen to proclaim the Light
The jewel encrusted ‘Arsh
was chosen to reflect the Light
The loins of the pious
were chosen to carry the Light
The noble truthful son of Muttalib
was chosen to deliver the Light
The pure pristine womb of Aminah
was chosen to nurture the Light
The month of the first spring
was chosen to shine the Light
The golden sands of Makkah
were chosen to welcome the Light
This blessed Ummah of the Light
was chosen to be guided by the Light

Our heedless forgetful heart
has been chosen to be a receptacle of the Light
Our careless flippant tongue
has been chosen to send perpetual blessings upon the Light
SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.

Insha’Allah choose this Mubarak Month of Light
to excessively praise Allah Ta’ala
Who manifested His Light
in our chosen master Al-Mustafa
…a light-giving lamp. (33:48)
Allah and His Angels call down blessings on the Prophet. O you who have faith, call down blessings on him and ask for complete peace and safety for him. (33:56-57)

Insha’Allah choose to abundantly recite Salat and Salam,

firmly establishing and increasing love for the Light

in an ever expanding a grateful heart,

desirous of becoming closer to the Light on the Day of Judgement

and drinking from his hand in the Eternal Garden of Bliss

as one of the chosen.

JUMA’AH MUBARAK!

and

MILADUN NABI!

O Allah, bless our liegelord Muhammad whose light preceded creation and whose appearance was a mercy for the worlds, blessings equal to the number of Your created beings who have passed and who remain, who are fortunate and who are wretched, blessings that use up all numbers and encompass all borders, blessings with no limits or bounds, no term nor end, blessings that last as long as You last, and the like of it upon his family and Companions. And for this may Allah be praised. Ameen

Ameen.

last night in Paradise…

Last night in Paradise
Angels were baking cup cakes
while chanting Ya Mustafa
as they strummed light waves
and plucked star strings
with feathered wings
tinkling bells chimed in unison
as they always do

these heavenly
vibrations reached far beyond the exosphere
ricocheting off the majestic name

M U H A M M A D

embellished on the Throne

eons before anything was and

beyond time and space

even long before “BE”

Last night in Paradise
Angels were baking cup cakes
the wafting aroma
caught in puffs of breeze
above the Abode
an ambrosia for yearning

repercussions were felt
in the Meadow
as obeisant foreheads melted
on the euphoric floral
green
entwined with thornless roses
and intoxicating jasmine
as veils lifted

veils finer than an ants wing
embroidered with resplendent
beads of pearls
every lustre and gossamer thread
spelling
M U H A M M A D
reflecting mercy on every surface
as it orbits
around a Universe
created just for him

glowing lamps flicker
entire galaxies
madly float
in hearts brimming
with adulation
tears spill in the Garden

oh that they mingle
where his blessed tears
fell as raindrops

where his wise counseling
was a melodious river

where his numinous light
still illuminates even the most wretched

where scent still rises
from his every footprint

where pillars still yearn
for his embrace

where the earth still sighs
from the kiss of his muddied forehead

where his gaze shot arrows of love

where his smile still dances in the air

where his touch
subdued the wildest ego
snuffed the flames of disbelief
united warring fractions
and harmony was finally defined
all by his shadowless perfection

Praiser and Praiseworthy
our stooping and weeping and supplications
are meek compared to your esteem and your vastness
our salutations
sullied
within a darkened stupor
our only hope
is the hope
that dazzles
from your Light
emitting sparks to needy slaves

Last night in Paradise
Angels were baking cup cakes

we sweep the rooms of our being
lay the sufrah
and now

Insha’Allah

patiently

wait

to

taste

them!

“When you were born, the earth was lit…”

When you were born, the earth was lit.
And with your light so was the sky.

‘Abbas RadhiAllahu anhu

May this brilliance forever light hearts, singing eternal praises that shine to the ‘Arsh, Ameen.

May our love be further ignited as we look and listen at how various and diverse artists celebrate the love for our Blessed Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.

“All our glory is from the name of Muhammad”

There is a beloved hidden within thine heart…
By love of him the heart is made strong…
In the Muslim’s heart is the home of Muhammad,
All our glory is from the name of Muhammad.

Iqbal

Whether we gaze upon all the glorious manifestations of the noble name of our Blessed Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam, or hear his melodious name, or repeat the soothing sound these letters produce, abundant glory descends upon our needy souls, as rain quenches a parched and barren landscape.

It is the love of Al-Mustafa, SallAllahu alaihi wasallam, Allah Ta’ala’s chosen unique seal of purity and honesty, that is deeply etched within the hearts of all passionate seekers, and every act associated with his name infuses the soul; floods bearing happiness, tranquility and musk fragrant yearnings expand the breast eliminating all sorrow at the mere sight, mention or sound of this noble name an all it epitomizes.

May we embrace this Month of Lights with abundant imbibing of this lustrous name, Muhammad…obsessed with its repetition on our tongues, in our ears, in our sight, in our mind, melting the heart and indelibly saturating our every cell with love for the mercy to the worlds SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.

May our hands also be absorbed in our devotion by ceaselessly scribing this honoured name followed by the salutation whereby as long as this writing exists the praise will be continuous. Insha’Allah you could gift such a record of adoration to a fellow wayfarer, sharing the glory from the name Muhammad.

Stare deeply into these chosen four letters; mim, ha, mim dal, meditating on what is required of us and our relationship to our Blessed Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.

It can be stated that emulating the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) is the very purpose of our creation.

Therefore there must be struggle to perfect one’s emulation, a struggle that were one to live for a thousand years one would keep struggling and striving to further improve oneself and thereby draw nearer and nearer to Allah. This is the wisdom behind Allah sending us a prophet who is like us but yet infinitely beyond us in every aspect of perfection; so that we would follow and yet never be satisfied with ourselves especially comparing our own imperfection to his perfection.

Insha’Allah read the full reminder here.

Allahumma Salli ‘ala Badrit-Tamaam
Allahumma Salli ‘ala Nuriz-Zalaam
Allahumma Salli ‘ala Miftaahi Daaris-Salaam
Allahumma Salli ‘ala Shafee’i fee Jamee-il Anaam

Allah! Send Blessings upon the Full Moon in brilliance.
Allah! Send Blessings upon the Light overwhelming darkness.
Allah! Send Blessings upon the Key to the Abode of Peace.
Allah! Send Blessings upon the Intercessor of all humanity.
SalAllahu Alaihi Wasallam.

carnival of lights, praise…and grasshoppers…

The Haram courtyard these balmy evenings has become a festive ‘amusement park’. Holiday time across the Kingdom and Gulf States and the mild weather has an attractive appeal to a flood of visitors.

Children frolic in riotous merriment with an array of playthings to keep them amused. Chinese exporters must revel in the trade deals with the Kingdom! Various types of balls whizz by bonking many on the head, flying onto picnic rugs spilling drinks. Brightly lit flying saucers are projected high in the air to be followed by a scampering child retrieving it, various wheel devices attached to feet send wobbly bodies crashing here and there, colourfully lit guns produce spurts of bubbles, light sabre wands flash with gusto, a melodic Ya Taiba rings out from yet another luminous light sphere. And if this is not enough to dodge and try to focus on the sacredness of where you are amidst the squealing and hyped frivolity…

…then the invasion of grasshoppers adds to the mayhem…or maelstrom, a carnival maelstrom…because too bad all this continues during Salat!

I am all for children enjoying themselves, but there is a time and a place and basic rules of respect for trying to prevent themselves and/or their missiles from disturbing others. The watchful eye of family seems to be far from the jubilant antics of the children…

…so for those without any toys for their amusement, the defenseless grasshoppers provided hours of entertainment…there seemed to be competitions as to who could stomp on the most, or who could collect the most, putting them in bottles, then throwing the contents on others producing hysterical shrieks…imagine you were here this eve of Juma’ah…

…a pile of the flying saucer things…sold by eager entrepreneurial small boys, when not being chased by the police…

…the wands…pity they are decorated with pictures of cartoon and pop characters.

It was with great relief to wander away from the ‘carnival’ in the sisters section to the more sublime carnival of the heart, to remain in the peace and contemplative side of Haram for an extended time. [Photos purposefully 'impressionistic']

Click on each of the following photos for a selection of clips expressing praise and salutations upon our Blessed Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.

note the light wand!

Not sure what caused this effulgence of LIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!! SubhanAllah, obliteration!

Ya Rabb, Glory to You for all that Your Light glistens

SubhanAllah! This was the spectacular light show Allah Ta’ala drenched our needy souls in upon the Adhan for Maghrib on the first of the blessed month of Lights, the heralding of Spring, the month of renewal and blossoming of all that gains Your Pleasure: Rabial Awwal. Extraordinary Lights of Rahmah continue to illuminate the City that forever glows with the honour of caressing Allah Ta’ala’s chosen Mercy to the worlds SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. Layers of Light upon Light upon Light.

Ya Rabb,

Glory to You for all that Your Light glistens

for rainbows on bubbles

the shine on ant wings

the glow of fireflies

luminous deep sea microbes

crystals and diamonds hidden in mountains

Ya Rabb,

Glory to You for all that Your Light glistens

for tears shed by Your devoted slaves

the angelic radiance of the new born

stars, planets, orbs, moon and sun

the shimmer of a fresh water lake

and the sparkle of the froth on waves

Ya Rabb,

Glory to You for all that Your Light glistens

for the pearly lustre of Your celestial beings

the glittery gleam of Your Ruby Pen

and the emanation from Your Divine Throne

but how dim

when compared to the iridescence of Your Beloved

and the blaze upon the mention of his name

YA RABB YA RABB YA RABB

may his dazzle blind us to all but him and his illuminated Sunnah you entrusted to him SallAllahu alahi wasallam

The following is taken from a speech given by Sayyidi Habib Umar bin Hafiz may Allah Ta’ala preserve him, during the Mawlid in Dar al-Mustafa on Thursday 27th Safar 1431/11th February 2010 (his website, Arabic)
When Rabial Awwal comes open your heart to receive the floods – receive closeness to Allah and His Beloved SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. Don’t place anything above him SallAllahu alaihi wasallam – we have not been permitted to love anyone or anything however great as we should love him. Do not deprive any of us of the goodness that You have because of the evil which we have.

This is the month of ennoblement – the month in which the Beloved SallAllahu alaihi wasallam  emerged into the world – the blessing was completed, the earth was illuminated. Make us amongst those who receive this month in the best way.

And the following Adiyah/Salawaat are also from Habib ‘Umar

And for those yet to register for this CELEBRATION, Insha’Allah click on image for details.

May we triumph as we ascribe ourselves to him SallAllahu alaihi wasallam celebrating his birth with each passing breath of every passing day during this auspicious month, Ameen.

Ameen.
