‘a month of miscellany’ 05

FIVE

It is related that a Sufi said, “In one of my journeys I saw a reverend man who had grown very old. I asked him about his state. He said, ‘Early in my life I fell in love with the daughter of my uncle, and she likewise with me, so it was arranged that she be wed to me. The night of the wedding we said, ‘Come let us enliven this night with thanks to Allah Ta’ala that he has brought us together.’ So we prayed that night, and neither of us turned our attention to the other. When the second night came we said the same thing. It is now seventy or eighty years that we have been this way every night. Is it nor so my dear?” ‘It is just as the Shaykh says,’ the old lady replied.”

And…a very poor villager and his wife were gifted a Qur’an Majeed, but their humble mud hut did not have a shelf to place it on. So the husband would remain awake one night busy reciting, while the wife slept with the wife reciting the alternate nights while the husband slept. And thus did their married life pass in this manner.

May Allah Ta’ala bless all the newly wed, all about to complete their Deen and all still seeking this state. Ameen!

All good is from Allah Ta’ala whereas mistakes are from this humble speck. May Allah Ta’ala Bless all readers, bringing you all closer to Him and His Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. May He accept our humble efforts and grant us the capacity to be good and do good. Ameen.
