…travellers we all…

The following is a little drop from the ocean of Sayyidi al-Habib’s words from last week’s mawild in Dar al-Mustafa on the 20th of Rabi al-Awwal 1434 / 31st January 2013 as translated by Sidi Amin Buxton (Allah preserve him and his teachers, and benefit us by them). The translation of this talk can be viewed from here.

Your connection to the Chosen One (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and your knowledge of his prophethood, his greatness and his station in the sight of Allah is a blessing.

The more you thank Allah for this blessing, the more He will increase you in the blessing that is Muhammad. Your knowledge of his prophethood, his greatness and his station in the sight of Allah will then be increased. The more you thank Him, the more He will increase you.

He says:

If you are grateful, I will surely increase you(14:7)

This increase has no limit and it will take you to the Abode of Goodness and more:

For those who excelled is goodness, and more than that. No darkness or abasement shall cover their faces. They are the people of the Garden and they will abide therein for ever.  (10:26)

…InshaAllah if you are not already on the Wayfarers to Allah mailing list, <wayfarers.to.allah@gmail.com> I highly recommend you do so for the sake of the heart and soul…

JUMA’AH MUBARAK!

…may these last few days of this Mubarak month of Rabial Awwal 1434 flood you and yours with unlimited bounties from Allah Ta’ala’s Treasury…and may your connection to His Habib SallAllahu alaihi wasallam be forever on the increase and your travels be overflowing with goodness, Ameen…

…photos from the end of the Hajj season when this speck was mobile…Insha’Allah this blessing will soon return along with a ‘blog voice’ that seems to be out in sympathy with lack of mobility…

All good is from Allah Ta’ala whereas mistakes are from this humble speck. May Allah Ta’ala Bless all readers, bringing you all closer to Him and His Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.  May He accept our humble efforts and grant us the capacity to be good and do good. Ameen.

Wa ‘alaikumus Salam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
Dearest Mumtaz…JazakiLlahu khairan katheera for your encouraging words…the spirit is well and truly ready to break out from the confines of our humble home…but body seems to have its own stubborn agenda at the moment…Insha’Allah this too will pass as does everything. How I miss visiting our Blessed Habib SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. Alhumdulillah for the knowledge knowing that all our supplications and greetings upon him are heard, SubhanAllah, but still nothing consoles the heart like being so physically close.
May blessings forever shower you and yours and your status be ever on the increase, Ameen.

I wish to ask if you have had any problems of taking picstures inside the Masjid e NAbwi?

Or would you advise taking such pictures?

I am fascinated about the calligraphy of Masjid e Nabvi and i heve collected pictures over the previous 4 years.

I was in Madina yesterday and i had an incident where i was told to give my iqamah to the chief hayya officer. Please could you let me know of whether it is allowed or nit?

    thanks

    Sajid

Wa ‘alaikumus Salam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
      Dear Brother Sajid,
Masha’Allah for being blessed with being a neighbour to the Best of Creation SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.
Photography is ‘supposedly’ ‘mamnou’…but brothers, (unlike the sisters whose bags are checked at the doors…and often they are frisked as well!) are free to take camera phones, but I am told one need special written permission if taking photos with a camera. Even the ‘official’ photographers for Madinah must carry a ‘permit; when they are taking photos inside. Allahu ‘Alum.
Unfortunately many of the Haia guys are excessive with regard to their job description…in fact their ‘powere’ have supposedly been reduced somewhat recently…but I feel many, who are not educated, take action in their own hands and can be very aggressive. I have seen and heard this outside in the courtyard…and been told about various incidents inside. I would never hand my iqama over to anyone…they have threatened us in the past when visiting the cave…I have been threatened to be taken to the mudeerah by one of the duty sisters…but refused…I guess a lot depends on how forceful they are with you…and if you do end up being marched to the ‘boss’ then remain calm and quietly talk about your love for the Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam and the respect for being in his City and the the respect for rules but no way will you hand over your iqama. If you feel you have been treated harshly you can take the name and number of the one who did this and take your case to the office. But also be wary and knowing that many brothers are ‘taken away’ and not heard of for years!!! Serious!
Insha’Allah try to keep a low profile and deeply engrossed in your Ibadah.
      Wassalamu alaikum

Mashallah, such beautiful pictures bring back even more beautiful memories of the City of Light.

How comes it looks so busy, even in Haram al Makkah it looks busy? Is this not supposed to be low season for umrah travellers?

Assalamu alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Baraatuhu,
      Dear Brother Hussain and family,
These photos were the last in the camera before my ‘seclusion’…with end of Hajj crowds…but even now friends telling me it is very crowded, excessively so, Masha’Allah. There is no such thing as ‘quiet’ or ‘low’ season anymore with the push to continually increase the Umrah visas year after year. The only time it is relatively quiet is after Ramadhan and after Hajj…but this is usually a favourable time for many to come from across the Kingdom and from the Gulf States…so gone are the years we experienced when first here where it seemed the Radiant City was empty. Plus more always visit during Rabial Awwal…it may lessen slightly for a few weeks now, Allahu ‘Alum,
      Wassalamu alaikum

Alhamdulillah I was in Madinah at the end of the Haj season for 2 short days, around the time these pictures were taken, I guess. I did often think of you and wondered which one of the ladies I bumped into was you. Many thinks for your beautiful postings, it really did enhance my short visit there,

YOU’RE BACK!!!!!! Takbeer! Huge cyber hugs and high-fives! Alhamdulillah, I’ve been checking the blog every once in a while and thinking of you more frequently than that. I’m so happy to see you posting again and hope that it means you are well on the road to recovery in sha Allah.
These pictures are wonderful, made me feel very homesick for for my favourite city *sigh*. I heard from others that it is very busy these days, almost like Hajj. I still dream of visiting during a quiet time, if there is every any such. Part of me is happy that so many want to visit the Haramain because it signals that love for the deen is alive in people’s hearts, but I would still love to be there in the off-season, one day insha Allah, just for ease of movement and a spot of tranquillity…
I’m burbling on… don’t mind me. So happy to see you back, alhamdulillah. May Allah give you ongoing and increasing shifa and wellbeing.

Wa ‘alaikumus Salam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
Dearest Umm Mahmoud and family, huge hugs and JazakiLlahu khairas for your kind words…Insha’Allah rehabilitation soon speeds up and I can honour this space more…but for the moment I need to be grateful for one step at a time, Alhumdulillah.
Sadly, I think ‘off season quiet times’ in the Haramain is history. All plans are for increasing numbers regardless of the logistics saying other wise. May Allah Ta’ala’s Mercy embrace us all, Ameen.
