Humble whisperings of a humble speck from Madinatun Nabi, the Radiant, the Beloved, the Blessed, the Protected, the Endowed, THE HUMBLE CITY of LIGHT that forever shines from the luminance of our Beloved Al-Mustafa, the best of creation, SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. Being in this luminance reduces one to a mere speck.

I’ve been scrolling n paging around this blessed blog for a long time even when I was away physically from my Nucleus (Madinatul Munawwarah) but alHamduLILLAH! I am back permanently to Sayyadatul Buldan, the city of my Beloved Habeeb Alaihi afDalus Salati wat Tasleem… I can’t find words to express my feelings for this blog!! I rather say it as Spiritual Enhancement Center where the thirsty people like me can find the taste of Kauther :) This is the place where rivers of texts are overflowing; the moons of the love for Beloved Mustafa (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) are beaming; the suns of reverence for His Presence are effulgent; the stars of the light of the Faith are glittering; The gardens of Truth (Al-Haq) are swaying; The flowers of research send out fragrance; the nightingales of the Guidance are twittering! May ALLAH give you more strength and better Jaza for the divine cause you are working for :) May ALLAH bless us with the faithful and respectful life and death of Madina Munawwarah Mutahharah. Aameen

    A Humble Servant of Yours!

    Asalaamu alaikam dear khala noor,

Your blog is a source of sukoon, a place where one can dive into a pool of noor and become immersed in the pictures, stories, nasiha and love…

Mashallah how Allah t’ala guides and connects, my husband stumbled across your site over a year ago and since then we realise that many of our friends are also connected to you, how beautiful that you have a connection and touch the hearts and duas of so many all over the world, many that you may be completely unaware of…Subhanallah…

Your recent posts make us ponder death, the pictures of the janaza ‘blurred’ strike a harsh reality of the unknown which awaits, Ya Rabb we seek help in your grace ameen… The excerpt of the pearl necklace reminds us of the fact that we are merely part a story in which only Allah t’ala knows the twists and turns it will take…when we depart from this dunya our actions will be the only thing we take ‘like a necklace around our necks.’

“Oh Allah ease by it on our souls at death the agonies of the removal, the convulsions of the groaning when the soul reaches the collar bone and the Angel of Death, Allah send peace on our Prophet and on him, appears to seize it from the veils of the unseen and it shall be said ‘is there anyone to treat?’ He mixes for it from the lethal bitterness of death a cup of poisonous taste, firing from it the bow of death with the arrow of the lonliness of separation. The departure draws close to the afterlife, actions become a necklace around necks and graves are the resting abode until the appointed time of the Meeting Day.” [Extract from the Supplication for the completion of the Quran Al-Imam Zain al-Abidin Ali ibn Imam Husain]

Please keep us in your duas as you are in ours…

Assalam’wa’laycum may Allah (subhan’allahu’wa’tala) give you eternal happiness in this world and the next just as you have given the chance for us to have it seeing the photos of the blessed madinah. i pray that you continue with this noble work.
i have one question which i have been trying to find. do you have old and rare images of madinah? the houses of the companions, the old madinah markets from the time of the prophet? etc. i would love to see such images as i have been looking everywhere. the places where the companions had lived, worked and images of the old madinah and meccah. i would be extemely greatful if you could post them on your site or let me know. as i am reading ibn ishaq’s siratur rasullah at the moment, the images would go hand in hand with the fantastic seerah.

    Wa ‘alaikumus Salam Dear Sheikh,
JazakumuLlahu khairan for your visit and for your encouraging words.
Being no photography as early as those blessed times then the few images that are available are impressions individuals have gleaned from the Seerah. This previous post http://almiskeenah.blogsome.com/2007/07/22/a-ramble-10-cont/ has a photo created by the resident artist, Brother Noushad, (see his brilliant photos at the link on the side bar) of the Research and Studies Centre here, http://www.al-madinah.org/madina/index.php, where they have a huge model of Madinah at the time or Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam, as well as other information, but mostly in Arabic. In the past, prior to blogging I had access to a few other impressions of the houses of the Sahabah RadhiAllahu anhum, but they are in a different country now.
Many Shukukh when taking groups for Ziyarah advise one to look beyond what is the tangible, and allow the eyes of the heart to feel that one is back during those Mubarak times. If I come across anything I will post, Insha’Allah.

thankyou for replying. I would like to clarify the misunderstanding. I did not mean pictures from the time of the prophet (saw), but any pics before the demolision period by the saud family. As most, if not all the islamic heritage were still standing. I meant from that period. Secondly, i am not a scholar! Lol. Its just my name, ‘sheikh’ – a family name sort of thing.
    Kind regards.

I have emailed you. But also, Insha’Allah if you familiarize yourself with the ‘virtual tour’ category, with the Ahadith and stories relevant to the various locations, this should be a good foundation. Also the ‘ziyaratun nabi’ category deals more with the area around the Sacred Hujrah.
I am still very much a student on a journey of discovery, with so much more to learn of our Mubarak heritage, so what I can offer is scant compared to the ocean of knowledge there is.

I came across your beautiful blog on the blogsome website a few months back while searching for anything that would quench my thirst for information, in form of litrature but especially visual, of the most beautiful place in the world, Al Madina Al Munawwarah. Just the site of the Blessed dome sends shocks down my body. Absolutly awsome. I have gone through all the wonderful and beautifully presented blogs and have just discovered that you have moved here, so alot of catching up to do.

Alhamdolilla, the Light of the Universe, the most praised in the world, our Aqa-o- Maula (May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon them) have called me to Madina very soon. Inshallah I will be leaving for the blessed journey this coming thursday 1st of September and inshallah will be in Madina Shareef on 18th Ramadhan. Please do duas for me.

I want to make a request. Can you please post more pictures of the outer districts of Madina Shareef, where the Madni people live and Please more pictures of the numerous date palm gardens/ farms. Jazakallah

There are many photos of the residential areas of Madinatun Nabi and date graves dispersed throughout the blog, but Insha’Allah I will try to add more once the intense summer heat subsides a little. Unfortunately the date farms are not as numerous around Madinah as they were a few years ago. Farmers seeing more money in selling the land for real estate. Sad when one thinks how the entire city was surrounded with dense groves during the time of our Beloved Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. Maybe when you are here you can visit these places and see how things are for yourself.

May Allah bless you and grant you and your family the best of both worlds. May Allah quench your thirst direct from the blessed hands of Rasululah Sualalluhu Alaihe Wasalam at the pool of Kauthar.

I have frequently drawn inspiration from your site and will continue to do so.

We have started a website recently. The site is the result of a radio program we had the previlage of taking part in Ramadhaan. A slot dedicated to increase awareness among Muslims of the importance of Durood and inculcating sunnah in all aspects of our lives. The programs popularity encouraged us to continue something similar online and already have a subscription of over a thousand people in just a short space of time.

I also ask for your duaa for its acceptance in the sight of Allah subuhanahu wa ta ala. Any advice would also be greatly appreciated.

Its beyond description in words as inspiring it is to pay a visit to the Masjid-e-Nabawi, deep down from within, every tissue wishes to depart all the shimmers of this worldly glamor and seek to dwell for the rest of life in the blessed city of our beloved Prophet SAW/PBUH and perform each and every prayer of the remaining life in his(SAW/PBUH) masjid.
The tranquillity one feels by just being in that city cannot be described in words.
May Allah SWT grant our wish to dwell in the shadow of our beloved prophet SAW/PBUH, ameen.
Spent a small portion of last 10 days in Madinat Un Nabawi and find it so very inspiring and enlightening, that I seek for more.
This was my third visit in close to 4 decades yet the thirst is not close to quench.
Look forward to and seek Allah SWT’s grant to do so again, please remember us in your dua’s and do submit our salams at the rawdah.

I have a request, there is defenitely a reason/means for yourself and family being bestowed with this blessing of living in Al Madina and May I ask you the same.

Would request your dua for self and family (parents, siblings, wife, children, ustaad, extended family and all muslims) to have the fortune to live and die as good muslims and to live and die in either of the Harams and their immediate vicinity. I would request your dua in Rauda.

Dear Brother Shamim, Ameen thumma Ameen to your Du’a and kind expressions. I have added your name and requests to the ‘list’. May blessings flood your hearts and lives. Indeed being here is a gift beyond comprehension, but it also comes with sacrifices and responsibilities, which makes one shudder re the consequences of lapse and lack of Adab and accumulation of sins…all very scary, and who knows when the earth shakes this Mubarak City and the hypocrites are expelled if one will be among that wretched lot, Ya Rabb, Ya Lateef, Ya Wadud. Have mercy upon us all and save us, Ameen.

    Dear Brother Mohamad,
Several have asked for this very same request recently, and how I dislike not being able to comply, but truly at the moment I am saturated with a huge backlog of correspondence that overwhelms me and until I can clear this and then manage emailing more responsibly I am cautious to share my email. However if what you require is URGENT and/or will not take too much time do say so, and please forgive me. I began the blog to reach many at the same time, but it also has created numerous contacts that I am sadly unable to honour.

By the grace of Allah subhanawah ta’ala i was directed to your website sometime back and since then i have visited all of your great learning post i.e from your old link(blogsome) to your latest Mubarak service offerings. As the Mubarak words uttered by Habeeb-e-paak Hazrath Sayyidna Mohammad Mustafa Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam so blessed i find your insight for the things i.e

Habeeb-e-paak Hazrath Sayyidna Mohammad Mustafa Sallallahi alayhi wa sallam said: Give your eyes a share of your divine service. They(Sahaba-e-karam Radhwanullahi ta’ala ajmaeen) asked: O prophet Sallallahi alayhu wa sallam of god, what is the share of eyes in divine service: He Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: To look towards the Quran shareef to ponder over it, to seek advice and to take lessons from its wonderful matters.

Starting from the Beautiful Ray of Light from every direction to sophisticated touch of new born and many more such things experiencing in the lines of Sunnah and Quran -e- paak is simply a greatest blessing upon you.

I love the fact that you always run for the every glimpse of Madinah Munawwarah and so making it eternal memory for the life, i wish i had been such who is always in Zikr, Fikr, Yaad and Immense Shukr for Allah subhanawah ta’ala and His Rasool Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. This is the exact time were all the leaves of the plants & trees go dry and branches of trees gently leave they older dry leaves and dress up with freshness of they newborn and gently move to pass the fresh air which seems like they fable the coming of His subhanawah ta’ala’s Noor sallallahu alayhi wa sallam with endless Mercy and Happiness and so the term spring arrives. This happens every year, plants are seen new, fresh and lovely starting in this season till the beginning of Rabi Al Akhir which can be understood by true lovers that everything is bestowed with a mercy is compulsory to express gratefulness to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. This is commendable.

I too would like to be incorporating gems from the Shukukh here, but not being a male nor having enough Arabic limits the possibility. I personally find that many who make regular visits from other countries are inspiring and instill a great love, and respect for our Blessed and Noble Resident SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. I have recently discovered your fabulous site on the Nabi sallal-allah-o-alehu-wasallam. On your article dated November 9, 2008 titled:”Dome of Peace [Ziyaratun Nabi]” for the first time in my life I read about how’s inside the enclosed area of the holy tomb of our rasul(sas). As an architecture student I was very delighted from the diagrams, I mean the 2 cross-sections of the holy dome chamber, I am very eager to know your source of these diagrams so I could use them in one of my presentations on the holy Nabawi mosque.

I had the honour of performing Hajj this last year, and also visited Madinah (I visited an Islamic museum there too, where they had some fascinating info on al-Masjid al-Nabawi). Assalamualaikum Ukhti

I just stumbled across your site and want to express gratitude from the bottom of my heart for having alighted my heart with newfound love for Madinah and all that it contains. Please pray for this needy one as the last time I was in the holy cities was when I was about four. The need to refresh myself spiritually is great. And the desire to be in close proximity to our beloved Rasulullah (S) is even greater. Please please please convey my salam to him, which I hope Allah will put somehow in your heart because I know the list of people requesting you to convey their salams must be long and filled with people more pious than I can ever be. And please, can you remember to make du’a that this needy one will till the last moment be victorious in following each and every sunnah and will always always always love Rasulullah (S), so much so that this love will allow for her to be with him on the Day of Judgment.

    JazakAllah Sister
I already feel great love for you as a resident of Madinah. InshAllah I pray that just as Allah azza wa jal has allowed you to be in close proximity to Rasulullah (S), that He allow you to be in even closer proximity to Rasulullah (S) on the Day of Judgment.

May Allah Ta’ala grant you your every desire and we be blessed to meet in His Garden, if not before, when you may be returned to this City of Radiance just as you were here when your were four! Assalamualaikum
I literally jumped with joy when I saw that my name was added to “the list”. Alhamdulillahi rabbil a’alamin.

I don’t remember anything from Madinah. But I do remember the great house of Allah and how it created a lasting impression on me. I remember praying in front of it. Aaah I need to come back there! InshAllah if not able to meet in this lifetime, may Allah allow us to meet in His garden indeed. I look forward to getting to know you there!
You’re my friend now, okay? So you have to make du’a that I complete my hifz (which I’m currently doing alhamdulillah) with ease and become a member of the household of Allah. Oh yes, and one more request. My teacher wanted to be added to “the list” as well. Her name is Qurat ul Ayn. So if you can please add her name, I’d be greatly obliged.

I found this nasheed and I absolutely love it. The lyrics are amazing. Thought I’d share it with you:

    Beloved Nabi by Talib al-Habib

    chorus
    Salla Allahu `ala Ta Ha
    Allahuma salli `ala nabiyyina habibina

Beloved Nabi, my heart yearns to see
The laughter that dances in your eyes.
Heavy lay the burden of my grief
Until you came and gave me strength again
    Beloved Nabi

Silently, the thought of you appears
Your love is like the touch of spring to me
    And joyfully, my blossom-soul awakes
    To remembrance that brings tranquillity
    Beloved Nabi

    Cord of moonlight, sunlight entwined
Cord of love, our lovesbond eternal.
Fire of yearning, light of hope
Cord of faith that binds me to you.

Light of my eyes, fragrance of my soul
I send my love on angel wings to you
Hear its cry, borne upon the wind
Calling you to lead me through the night
    Beloved Nabi

So fear not, my heart, at times when you feel
Sorrowful and lonely in the cold
Soothe your pain, for through his love you’ll find
The solace and the comfort that you seek
    Beloved Nabi.

Oh Allah! Send your blessings upon
Our Master Muhammad, our guide, our beloved
In every heartbeat, in every breath and sigh
    Every teardrop shed
By those who yearn for the light of his beauty
Who pass days and nights seeking his company
From creation’s dawn, every moment, every hour
Until the rising of the Last Day will come

Beloved Nabi, how long will it be
Until I see the sunrise in your eyes?

    (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam)

I have not used an Umrah book as such for many years, so not really up with all that is available, however meeting many and seeing what they have used then maybe you could check the spiral bound ‘Hajj and Umrah Made Easy’…it is on a cord that you wear around your neck so is available throughout the Umrah with Du’a for each stage as well as very clear and concise diagrams. It is in this very extensive list:
    http://www.islamicgoodsdirect.co.uk/index.php/cPath/1_22
    These are popular ones also:
    http://liwajhillah.co.uk/browse.html#EMSHPH001
For the spiritual preparation I recommend the following. It is based on Hajj but is very inspiring:
    http://www.hubooks.com/Hajj/From-The-Two-Holy-Sanctuaries
And this by Arif Billah Hazrat Maulana Shah Hakeem Muhammad Akhtar Sahab Damat Barkatuhum…which you can download…is a must read, Masha’Allah:

May the Prophet, salla Llahu `alayhi wa sallam, testify to your being among those that love him and long for him. Salla Llahu `alayhi wa sallam.

On a different note, a quick question: I came across a Sheikh Amudi (of Bakri lineage, radiya Llahu `anh). Do you know anything about him? He’s of Hadrami origin and seems to be well-known and loved in Madinah, ma sha’a Llah.

    Jazakumu Llahu khayra.

JazakumuLlahu khaira for your touching Du’a and words. Alhumdulillah for all the noble Shuyukh who reside in our City of Enlightenment. I habe heard of Sh Amudi, may Allah Ta’ala protect him, but I am reluctant to write anything publically unless there is permission.

    Assalaam alaikum dear sister,

Praying you and your family are in the best of Iman and health and under the shade of Allah’s Mercy. I wanted to share with you this wonderful date shop that is located near Ramada Hotel. It’s owned by a very humble and righteous man, Shaykh Maher. His shop, Medine Hurmacisi, sells one of the freshest and most delicious Ajwa dates that I’ve ever tasted!

Shaykh Maher is a long-time resident of Madina, and usually accompanies Shaykh Hamza during the Sacred Caravan’s Umrah trip.

If you get a chance, please do go there. Here are the contact numbers: 0503302836/0500395306/0503393279

Ameen thumma Ameen for your heartfelt Du’a Dear Sister Falaq. Alhumdulillah and JazakumuLlahu khaira for sharing this information…many benefit from Shaykh Maher when they are in our Blessed City of Radiance. There are two Ramada hotels…maybe you mean the one on the southern Qibla side close by the Shariah courts? Once I know the exact location I will add it to the Ziyarah page, Insha’Allah. The other is on the northern side beyond the Al Anwar Movenpick. Insha’Allah when time permits I will visit to confirm.

Praying you and your family are in the best of Iman and health and under the shade of Allah’s Mercy. I believe it’s the one on the southern Qibla side close by the Shariah courts. It might be a bit tricky to find the shop, so I would suggest perhaps calling just to make sure of the location.

Please remember this sister in your dua :)

Assalamu alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
    Sheikh Waseem,
Alhumdulillah…may you be directed to find exactly what you are seeking, Insha’Allah. I am really trying to limit my time at this PC of late and trying to keep communication to the comments…and as you can see even that has been lax of late, so apologies for not emailing…at times it is necessary to realize one’s limitations…and this is one of those times.
Dear umme AbdurRahmaan, how I would love to meet every one that connects to our Sacred Places through this blog, but truly it is impossible…and as each year passes and the number who want to meet increases, and I get OLDER :) then the probability lessens…plus a lot depends on when you may be here. Insha’Allah let me know the dates here and I will see how my plans may fit in. Meanwhile please check the Ziyarah tab for a comprehensive list of places in Makkah and Madinah. Love and Du’a to you and yours and I have added your name to the ‘list’. May your every step and breath of your Umrah be blessed, Ameen.

    Dear Brother Syed Zain Hashmi,
    Ameen thumma Ameen.
I am not aware of any photo of the inner dome of the Mubarak Hujrah and my limited knowledge is that the majority if relics were transported to safety by the Turkish at the fall of the Ottoman times, and now housed in Topkapi Palace in Istanbul…you can search for this and see details of the relics there, Insha’Allah. Also the beautiful book Sacred Trusts
    http://www.thesacredtrusts.com/
    details the Mubarak exhibits.
Allahu ‘Alum to the whereabouts of certain items…there seems to be many accounts that are passed around, but only Allah Knows Best. I heard from a respectful Imam just a few weeks back that the body of Abdullah ibn Abdul Muttalib was moved to jannatul Baqi from the western courtyard area when they were working on the King Fahd extensions…once again Allahu ‘Alum.

    Salaams Sister,
I saw your posts on skyscraper city and found your website [this one] and have been truly awestruck by the content, the amazing pics and the beautiful writing to go with them.
I was wondering as to your background, as your english and the writing language being so poetic and of very high quality, makes we wonder that you must have some good high quality education, perhaps a degree in english language or literature. Where do you originate from ? Some pics under your Eid blog I think, shows a park which looks english. Just curious, that is all.
I love your posts on the simple life of the Madeenah suburbs, away from the commercialised centre, and was also struck by the Madressa where young children are taught.
I will be in the blessed city of our Beloved Prophet SAW next week sunday for 10 days, and then onto Makkah, with my wife and daughter, and your articles and pics have been a great inspiration as a prep for this visit.
May Allah bless you and reward you. Keep up the great work.

Wa ‘alaikumus Salam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
    Dear Abu Arifa and family,
May Allah Ta’ala accept this humble effort from me and make us all among those who are graced with sound hearts and souls. JazakumuLlahu khaira for your exceptionally kind sentiments, but truly whatever goodness may fly from this space is nothing compared to the profound goodness and beauty of the one SallAllahu alaihi wasallam being written about.
Alhumdulillah for your upcoming visit. Yes there is a wealth of information shared over the past almost eight years, especially if you go to the ‘virtual tours’ category and make decisions as to what Zirayahs you may want to include in your stay. Though often I do emphasize the supreme bliss of remaining in and around our Beloved SallAllahu alaihi wasallam’s residence. Insha’Allah you do make the time to visit the Darul Madinah Museum too, as well as the exhibitions on the Seerah on the western side of the courtyard and the one behind Masjid Quba.
I am Australian born and yes there is an academic background in the Eng Lit and the creative arts :) but oh so long ago in my Jahaliyyah times :)
May your every step and breath be imbued with the Noor and Barakah of our hallowed places, Ameen

    Dear Sister,
Jazakallahu khayrun for your reply. Alhumdolillah this will be our 7th visit, so have done the usual round of ziyarahs a few times, and I agree the tranquility and spirituality around our Beloved Prophet SAW’s masjid and abode cannot be matched elsewhere, however, this time I will be hoping to see some sites not previously visited, and the exhibitions you mention will be among those. Also the Saqeefa Bani Sadait (hope I’ve spelt that right) which I didn’t know was so close to where we will be staying i.A.
I pray Allah accepts our journey and make it a means to increasing the love in our hearts for our Beloved Prophet SAW, so we can truly live our lives on the Sunnah, and be blessed with closeness to our Prophet SAW in the hereafter.
Regarding your education etc in what you call jahaliyah, at least you are using skills gained then to inspire others on the straight path, and had you not attained those skills, we would not have gained so much. Allah works in mysterious ways.
Jazakallah for your duas as well, again, May Allah reward you. By the way I have read about this ‘list’ if it’s what I think, perhaps our family could be included on it too !
    Wassalaam.

Assalamu alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
      Dear Abu Arifa,
Ameen thumma Ameen to you heartfelt Du’as…Masha’Allah for so many invites, Insha’Allah there are many many more.
Insha’Allah you will find Saqeefa, Banu Sa’edah, a pleasant haven where thoughts can turn to all that it means for us, reflecting on the many stories from there. I was there the other day, and Insha’Allah intend to go again tomorrow as it truly is like a small hideaway and not many seem to visit there. The thought that one day it may disappear due to the expansion is heartbreaking to say the least. There is already a drilling machine at the front fence working away. I feel there should be a planned ‘sit in’…though fear one may end up in a jail sit in the way things are here :) The intention is to add a post after tomorrows visit. Would love for you to share some of your experiences here when you have time…maybe you and your family could write a guest blog post? Insha’Allah.
      BarakAllahu fikum
