Makkah al-Mukarramah, Rabi'alAwwal 1433, virtual tours

…a spiritual opening…

By In

…Umm Hani’, the sister of Ali RadhiAllahu anhu, thus our Beloved Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam’s cousin lived in her father’s house at approximately this position…

…it was here that Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam came dejected after he had been abused and taunted by several of the Quraysh…Umm Hani’ comforted him and invited him to sleep for the night there…

…narrations vary as to whether Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam ascended on the Buraq from the house, or from the Hijr…

…this is one version from Umm Hani’…after reciting the night prayers he went to sleep. Just before dawn, the Prophet of God awoke us and we all prayed the dawn prayer together. When the prayer was through, he said, “O Umm Hani’, I prayed with you the night prayer in this place; then I went to Jerusalem and I prayed there, and as you see, I have just finished praying with you the dawn prayer.” I answered, “O Prophet of God! do not tell this to the people, for they will belie you and harm you.” He said, “By God, I shall tell them.”

…while Martin Lings in Muhammad, his life based on the earliest sources, describes thus:

On one occasion when they had prayed the night prayer behind the Prophet, Umm Hani invited him to spend the night with them. He accepted her invitation; but after a brief sleep he rose and went to the Mosque, for he loved to visit the Ka’bah during the night hours. While he was there, the desire to sleep came over him again, and he lay down in the Hijr.
“Whilst I was sleeping in the Hijr,” he said, Gabriel came to me and spurred me with his foot whereupon I sat upright, yet I saw nothing and lay down once again. A second time he came; and a third time, and then he took me by the arm and I rose and stood beside him, and he led me out to the gate of the Mosque, and there was the white beast, between a mule and an ass, with wings at his sides wherein he moved his legs; and his every stride was as far as the eye could see.”

…details may differ, but the consensus is that our Beloved Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam did sleep in his cousin’s house…and that this is the location…and Allah Ta’ala knows best…

…Insha’Allah, may we all be granted spiritual openings and an increased nearness to our Rabb Subhanahu wa Ta’ala and his Habib SallAllahu alaihi wassalam as we contemplate this moving part of the Seerah and turn our gaze upon the sacredness of places where our glorious history is preserved…Ameen.

…the location of the house of Abu Talib, the Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam’s uncle is almost in a direct line from Rukn Yemeni, the Yemeni Corner of BaituLlah. I have purposefully taken various photos to help identify the position…SubhanAllah the late night visit found this little enclave empty and aglow…leaving us free to be immersed in Ibadah…Shaykh Zulfiqar, may Allah Ta’ala preserve him and continually raise his rank, advises to make Du’a, in this place, to the effect , O Allah this is where you gave Your Habib SallAllahu alaihi wasallam a physical opening, please bless me with a spiritual opening. Ameen.

All good is from Allah Ta’ala whereas mistakes are from this humble speck. May Allah Ta’ala Bless all readers, bringing you all closer to Him and His Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.Β  May He accept our humble efforts and grant us the capacity to be good and do good. Ameen.

    Assalaamu aleikum sis
another feast of marvellous pictures! I’m curious about #3 and the ones after, there seem to be two levels, with a grille screening the lower level. what is that?
And is this opposite ar-Rukn al-Yamani? I’m trying to get my bearings…
A final question, are there any resources online or in book form about historical sites like this in Makkah, that are now included in the Masjid?
I’m full of questions tonight πŸ™‚ thoroughly enjoying the visual feast, may Allah reward you abundantly!

Assalaam Alaikum, I regularly visit your website as you bring these beautiful pictures and description to life. Even though I live thousands of miles away you regularly update us to what’s the latest and in return it feels like we are there witnessing it with you. May Allah bless you for creating this website. I have been blessed to do umrah this April inshallah, with my family. In regards to ziyarah you have plentiful information both in Makkah shareef and Madina shareef. Is it possible that you can compile a list of all the ziyarah I should do please or do you advise me of just going through your blog. Jazak allah khair in advance an please keep us updated with your beautiful blog.

Assalamu alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
Alhumdulillah Dear Sister Yasmin, a gift from Allah Ta’ala when the heart connects to our glorious past.
Dear Brother Ikramuddin and family, always a joy to know you are behind the screen and able to connect when possible. Insha’Allah your appearance is heralding another visit πŸ™‚ AMEEN!
Dear Sister Seema, and JazakiLlahu khaira for your regular encouragement…greatly appreciated πŸ™‚
    Dear Umm Mahmoud..again πŸ™‚
One needs to grasp that the Masjid has been developed on various levels…the grill is to the basement area, while above the grill is the next level as one ascends to exit…the ramp being for wheel chair access. Yes…walk directly from the Yemeni corner…heading between the King Abdul Aziz and the King Fahd gates. Insha’Allah very easy to find when you here next πŸ™‚ AMEEN! There may be such resources but I am not aware of same…Alhumdulillah I rely on gleaning as much as I can from reliable scholars…realizing there is always so much more to learn. See previous comment re a Ziyarah page…and this post may be of interest
Masha’Allah, Alhumdulillah Dear Brother Eisa for your invite….may you and yours be blessed with a flood of Barakah and Noor throughout your every step, Ameen. Insha’Allah if you go through the ‘virtual tour’ categories…but also as mentioned when a little window of time opens for me I will add a new Ziayarah page…it will merely list the places. I do have many of the Madinah places marked on a large google satellite map that has been shared with many. Not sure how to make this public.
Alhumdulillah Dear Brother Ahamed and family that benefit has been found via the site.
*smiles* to the blessings for camera and PC…an ancient hand me down laptop for times when away Dear Brother Suhail πŸ™‚ and Ameen thumma Ameen for your touching Du’a, JazakumuLLahu khaira.
    Wassalamu alaikum

Wa ‘alaikumus Salam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
Dear Brother Eisa, I have posted most of the maps as mentioned in the ‘virtual tours’ category. It is impossible to post the huge hard copy that covers all of Madinah, it is approx metre wide…it is a compilation of all the ones posted plus a few extra sites. Insha’Allah I will email asap…

    Assalaam Alaikum,

Sorry to keep bugging you but just wanted to let you know that when I visit your virtual tour posts especially the old ones the photos aren’t showing. Is this because they are old? I wanted to see your posts about khandaq but the pictures don’t show. Can you let me know why this is so. Jazakumullahu khaira, Wassalamu alaikum

Wa ‘alaikumus alam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
Dear Brother Eisa, I have mentioned this many times…but I guess unless one keeps up with comments it is not known…Insha’Allah I will be adding another ‘page’ at the top explaining this. When I began the blog six and a half years ago it was with ‘blogsome’…then in Nov 2008 the blog was ‘migrated’ to my own domain…somewhere along the line access to the older photos would not show if searched via…but they are all still there…so entries prior to Nov 2008 have to viewed via the old site
I have tried to fix this issue, but so far my limited IT skills have not been successful…Insha’Allah I will seek some assistance from some who may know what to do.
Insha’Allah Dear Abu Mohammed, as just said…the entires span over six and a half years…some have been followers from the outset and know of the many Maqams and Ziyarahs posted…you can use a search engine for subjects you may want…adding
‘almiskenah’ after the key word/s…and this, Insha’Allah, should take you to many of the places I have tried to cover…
    Wassalamu alaikum
