…Saqeefa revisited::again::again…

thuluth-intro-copy

Madinah Saqeefa May 2013a

…this fence has been erected just to the left of the entrance to the tranquil Saqeefa garden…the place where the Banu Sa’edah tribe lived during the golden years of our Beloved Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam…SubhanAllah…so much to acquaint yourself with related to this beautiful plot of land… Madinah Saqeefa May 2013b

…is this the beginning of the end for this only garden within miles of Masjid Nabawi?…if, according to all the designs and plans for the gigantic expansion of the Masjid then this retreat will become part of the new extension…

Madinah Saqeefa May 2013c

…a drilling monster works away digging deep into the earth, Allahu ‘alum maybe testing the composition of the ground for its potential for load capacity…

 Madinah Saqeefa May 2013d

…really…no words can describe the hearts pain thinking that this may one day be more shiny marble…consumed by the next expansion…wiping out yet more of our glorious past…destroying this secluded sanctuary…not many know of its existence even today…or of its significance…is more of our illustrious history to be buried and long forgotten even more?

Madinah Saqeefa May 2013e

…if plans progress then this hotel and all in line with it will be the first row on the western side of the new Mosque…

Madinah Saqeefa May 2013f

…the King Abdul Aziz Library is in the same row so will be spared…and Allah Ta’ala knows best…

Madinah Saqeefa May 2013g

…this building is destined to go…it was announced years ago that the courtyard would be expanded to encompass this never completed shell…but now the decree is for a structure to be built…and Allah Ta’ala knows best…this building as it was five years ago…and Allah Ta’ala knows best, but the rumours are that it is taking all this time for the authorities to come to fair agreements regarding compensation for the investors and the dozens who pre-rented shop spaces…

Madinah Saqeefa May 2013h

…if all goes to plan you will be inside Masjid Nabawi where these vendors are selling…

Madinah Saqeefa May 2013i

…to give some sort of perspective of the sheer size of just this western section…peer through the walkway…in the distance you see the current facade of the Masjid…all that you see will be the interior of Masjid Nabawi…as well as behind this photo…

Madinah Saqeefa May 2013j

…the variety and quality of plants is not exactly lush as so many know in other climes of Allah Ta’ala’s grand creation…but for the harsh arid conditions of Madinatun Nabi this feels like a heavenly oasis…

Madinah Saqeefa May 2013k

…strange cabbage-like brassicas pop up as pom poms pushing through the cracked soil…wonder why they do not mulch??

Madinah Saqeefa May 2013l

…each individual head displays Allah Ta’ala’s artistry…SubhanAllah!!! these simple humble plants combine as a feast for eyes used to bleached desert dust and landscapes devoid of colour…

Madinah Saqeefa May 2013m

…petunias sparkle as stars in a dark sky…bravely resisting an alien climate in their struggle to adapt to this scorched land…the symbolism should not go unnoticed…reflect upon Allah Ta’ala’s wisdom of sending all Prophets to barren lands…and look how they all bravely shone…and still do till this day…delivering messages of guidance and hope…divine mercy manifested…in what may be considered a wasteland is in fact a vast ocean of spirituality…reminders are to be found in every single thing…

Madinah Saqeefa May 2013n

…in textures…and the life cycle of growth and decay…Madinah Saqeefa May 2013o

…patterns speak like ancient hieroglyphics…

Madinah Saqeefa May 2013p

…the new ready to replace the composting old…how much are we ready to let go of that which has run its course? thoughts…attitudes…worries…misconceptions…useless time wasting habits…take lessons from the garden…

Madinah Saqeefa May 2013q

…open the heart and soul to all that gains favours…spread arms wide to reach the love and mercy of our Rabb…stretch further and further..and then see how He stretches even more to you…embrace the light and compassion of our Beloved Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam…

Madinah Saqeefa May 2013r

Madinah Saqeefa May 2013s

Madinah Saqeefa May 2013t

Madinah Saqeefa May 2013v

Madinah Saqeefa May 2013u

…if happiness were to be measured by the chirping of birds singing in this garden then the ultimate pinnacle would be registered here…SubhanAllah…a most welcomed deafness of sugary sweetness…

…Ya Rabb…save this sanctuary for the Ummah…Ameen…

…Prayer Sutrah…

thuluth-intro-copy

SAM_0672

…a nifty little gadget… small Prayer Sutrah…a Sutrah being an object used as a barrier between the person praying and anyone passing…our Noble Nabi SallAllahu alaihi wasallam was know to use his sword stuck in the ground…there are other narrations whereby different methods were also used…including his camel…including the saddle of his camel…

Narrated By Abu Juhaifa RadhiAllahu anhu: I saw Allah’s Apostle SallAllahu alaihi wasallam in a red leather tent and I saw Bilal taking the remaining water with which the Prophet had performed ablution. I saw the people taking the utilized water impatiently and whoever got some of it rubbed it on his body and those who could not get any took the moisture from the others’ hands. Then I saw Bilal RadhiAllahu anhu carrying an ‘Anza (a spear-headed stick) which he planted in the ground. The Prophet came out tucking up his red cloak, and led the people in prayer and offered two Rakat (facing the Ka’ba) taking ‘Anza as a SUTRA for his prayer. I saw the people and animals passing in front of him beyond the ‘Anza.

Narrated Nafi RadhiAllahu anhu: “The Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam used to make his she-camel sit across and he would pray facing it (as a Sutra).” I asked, “What would the Prophet do if the she-camel was provoked and moved?” He said, “He would take its camel-saddle and put it in front of him and pray facing its back part (as a Sutra). And Ibn ‘Umar used to do the same.

…Sahih Bukhari has a chapter on the Virtues of the Musalla…including several Ahadith on Sutrah…it is not the intention here to state Fiqh matters as there are variations from the main authentic scholars so be advised to consult the best ruling that suits your leanings…

…this little Prayer Sutrah is made in the Kingdom and available in most bookshops around Haram…SR10-SR20, depending on the shop and depending on how many you may purchase…an ideal little addition to your pocket or bag especially while in Haramain…but also  excellent in the home where families may have a Musalla…and an ideal gift to take back from your pilgrimage…

SAM_0675

…the central gold shaft lifts up to be at right angles to the base (gold base style also available) …

SAM_0676

…this shaft then extends out like a telescope to the height of approximately 24cms which is the minimum height for a Prayer Sutrah…with the thickness being approximately of a finger…

…there is also a small accurate compass on the base…

…Alhumdulillah for our complete and glorious Deen…Alhumdulillah for the gift of Islam…

All good is from Allah Ta’ala whereas mistakes are from this humble speck. May Allah Ta’ala Bless all readers, bringing you all closer to Him and His Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.  May He accept our humble efforts and grant us the capacity to be good and do good. Ameen.

…Rajab 1434…

…the new marble courtyard in front of Babul Baqi…a shiny mirrored lake…shimmering reflections with a most intimate closeness portrayed in the touching father and sons huddle…affected by the intensity of love radiating from our Beloved Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam…brothers pondering the reality of being so near…hearts united in the calm and serenity…contemplating the blessing of being drawn so close…embraced and caressed with the softest of touches and the most fragrant of perfumes…

…a little further away the same awe is felt as sisters sit and stare blankly…who needs to see when one can feel…all but longing and yearning is left in the heart as it finds stillness in the moment…every thought, other than of Al-Mustafa SallAllahu alaihi wasallam, dissolved into a blank void…a nothingness of no meaning, no significance…a veritable bliss piercing ones whole being…

…here we all are…planted on this earthly orb by the gift of gravity…protected as we swirl around and around…our rizq has been decided…our destiny scribed long long ago…so why worry…why fill hearts with anything but the love and adoration of our Rabb and His Habib SallAllahu alaihi wasallam…be daring…submit even more during the month of Rajab…be open and ready and WILLING to receive Allah Ta’ala’s Mercy…this is His month of pouring His Mercy on the penitent…daily diligent pleas of

Rabb ighfir li w’ arhamni wa tub ‘alayya

Oh Allah forgive me, have mercy upon me, and grant me repentance.

seventy times after Fajr and after Asr…Insha’Allah so little in exchange for mountains and mountains of forgiveness…SubhanAllah…(other recommended acts in the third link below)

JUMA’AH MUBARAK!

…may your profits be enormous during this Mubarak month of Rajab, Ameen…

return to Allah Ta’ala in repentance

…previous Rajab posts…here with the date loaf recipe…celebrate…here with a gallery of nostalgic Makkah…and here for spiritual ways of preparing the body, mind and soul for Ramadhan, SubhanAllah…

…exalted perfection::perfection exalted…

…as the thunder roars…the clouds frolic in an ecstatic dance…the lightning electrifies the air…the heart swoons in wild abandon mesmerized by the shifting shafts of light on this most precious of places in the entire creation…the Abode of the the most exalted in  perfection SallAllahu alaihi wasallam…perfection most exalted…SubhanAllah!

Verily you are of a tremendous nature. (68:4)

His virtues are perfect, and were he to gift

His resplendence to the moon, it would never be eclipsed.

Despite their skill, those who have described him

Need all of the time to do so – and there is more they have not described.

…I know you’re tired but come, this is the way…

…I know you’re tired but come, this is the way…

Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi Rahmatullahi alaihi

…vicariously wander from the north of Masjid Nabawi to the south, via the west, through these pictures…to the Abode of our Beloved Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam…

…an interesting juxtaposition…while this brother was lying prostrate the cart was delivering al-Mayyit for Janazah, top right…

Sallallahu ‘alaa Muhammad

Sallallahu ‘alaihi wa Sallim

Yaa Nabi Salaam ‘alaika

Yaa Rasul Salaam ‘alaika

Yaa Habib Salaam ‘alaika

Salawatullah ‘alaika.

…north:south…

… the northern side of Masjid Nabawi used to be where our Beloved Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam would depart and return from al-Sham…present day Jordan, Syria, Palestine  (YA RABB…shower Your Rahmah upon these ancient lands and their dear people…InshaAllah each and every one of you continue with istiqama in making Du’a for all that was al-Sham) …where camel trains of thousands would arrive and depart…where armies and forays would set out and return…for Uhud, Khyber, Tabuk being battles fought to the north…by tuning the imagination of the heart we can almost hear and smell and see so many of the Sahabah RadhiAllahu anhum trading, living, visiting, farming this very land…

…today it is a very congested side of Masjid Nabawi…especially after each Salat when the street vendors set up their trolleys and mats on the ground with hardly any space in between for pilgrims to reach their hotels…the above photo was taken immediately at the end of Asr Salat with sisters waiting for customers…the brothers do not seem to join the Safr in favour of being ready for brisk business the minute Salam is said…the walkways between the fence and the hotel shops become packed with much yelling to get attention to buy…how different from the atmosphere during the time of our Noble Nabi SallAllahu alaihi wasallam…but the things that are not different is Islam, Iman and Ihsan…Insha’Allah all who are invited here make these the focus and negotiate these market areas making the Du’a for attending a market place and in Dhikr…

…this northern side will see the greatest changes one the expansion demolitions begin…

…the southern Qiblah side leads to Makkah…spending time in the courtyard, especially late in the night, is the so peaceful…the tranquility pierces the heart regardless of what it may be holding…sitting quietly cleanses…it is almost as one sees all the unnecessary dross being lifted and dissipated…the fourth pillar along this wall is the closest a sister can physically be to our Blessed Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam…what more earthly bliss could one ever hope or want?

…volumes could be filled with photos of all the various scenes in the market area directly over the road from what used to be the Aswaq al-Haram…still many of the buildings are repositories for rubbish while some have been converted into a medical depot and used by the police and guards…for the moment this southern side outside the courtyard fence is relatively free of the hustle and bustle of the north…with many hotels still under construction in this vicinity, many walkways are partially fenced leaving the narrow alleys, already with goods spilling into them like an obstacle course…

…soon the establishments on this side with be joyous once the shift from the north begins…the higher levels in hotels such as this one will offer views directly towards The Dome of Felicity…

…the Qiblah hotel, the biggest in Madinah moves closer to completion after ten years since the excavation was dug…

…the almost deserted walkway between the courtyard fence and the old Aswaq al-Haram…before its demise this area was pulsing with activity…Alhumdulillah after Maghrib each day the Fuqara are offered simple meals and tea, with dozens availing themselves of this khidmah…

…Seerah exhibition:inside…

…a real Muhabbat pervaded the space…was it the dramatic back lit panels? the less austere curving arrangements of the display panels? the curling around into large impressive spaces revealing more and more layers of the perfection of the Prince SallAllahu alaihi wasallam of the City of Radiance and Light? maybe it was the artistic designs with stunning calligraphy? the comprehensive inclusion of so many of the major aspects from the life of our Blessed Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam hitting the heart in a different way from reading a book or listening to a lecture? was it the obvious focus on displaying such attention to our Noble Nabi SallAllahu alaihi wasallam when too often adoration and heartfelt signs of affection are usually met with negative reactions from various quarters in and around Masjid Nabawi? maybe the ambiance created by the recitation from our Holy Book? Allahu ‘Alum…the organizers have excelled with this exhibition, Masha’Allah…Alhumdulillah…

…a reproduction of the Qibla wall greeted one upon entering…

…each area was filled with a soft subdued lighting featuring the topic in Arabic and English, with the main text in Arabic…

…a beautiful rendering of the Noble Name composed of gold lettering spelling the invocation of Salat imposed on a subtlety designed tonal Islamic pattern…

…other medallion designs opened as blossoms the hallowed name…

…I was drawn to this impression of how Makkah may have been at the time of the honourable birth…

…the large Hijrah map included all the notable places relevant to the blessed journey…

…difficult to convey with photos…

…the map based on satellite images clearly showed the terrain, bringing the reality of the arduous journey into the heart…this particular section shows where our Beloved Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam and his esteemed companion Abu Bakr RadhiAllahu anhu met with Umm Ma’bad RadhiAllahu anha (the top left position, see photos of how arid where this incident took place) …(audio of this miracle)

…model of the first mimbar and how the trunks and dried palms of the date palm constructed the first Masjid…

Prophetic lineage

…model of how the houses of our Noble Mother’s of the Believers were arranged around the Masjid according to some narrations…

…the naming of the significant pillars…details here, here

…detail of the cluster of houses…

…just two examples of the decorative features, adding to the stunning overall effect…

…stylized interpretations of the names of Abu Bakr and Ali RadhiAllahu anhuma…

…each contained space seemed to have a unique concept…

…part of the huge impression of this Enlightened City at the time of our Beloved Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam…

…a model of the terrain including the vast lava tracts and sites of the Battle of Uhud and Khadaq…a guide was explaining the salient features to a group…

…a map showing the locations of the Ghazwat with an accompanying list…

…Surah Fath Ayat 29…

It was He who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of Truth to show that it is above every other religion. Allah suffices as a witness: Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.

…Surah Al ‘Imran 144…

Muhammad is only a messenger before whom many messengers have been and gone. If he died or was killed, would you revert to your old ways? If anyone did so , he would not harm Allah in the least. Allah will reward the grateful.

…this was the second exhibition area…unfortunately the system was controlling entry according to groups with the same language so this speck did not venture into this section…Insha’Allah another time…

…Alhumdilillah what was seen impressed and deepened the LOVE…SubhanAllah!
