…royalty at Quba…

…not sure exactly what was expected…but hoping for a glimpse of some of the dignitaries assembling for the opening ceremony commemorating our Beloved Madinatun Nabi being the Islamic Cultural Capital for 2013…and hoping for a peek into the ‘tent’/shed erected for the occasion…instead my curiosity has to be satisfied with scant photographic coverage… here…(video clips usually surface at a later date)…Crown Prince Salman launched the beginning of festivities...more here…

…instead for the commoner, the presence of armed guards, police, commandos and security swarming the place were all we could see…

…and hear…the usual refrain of ‘yallo yallo’ as sisters attempted to watch over the balustrade…or sit in the courtyard…the few present, as all tour coaches were absent…being told to go inside the one half of the sisters section open…the other half was curtained off and guarded, by a row of about 8 sisters, for the female dignitaries…

…barriers blocked passage ways…

…usually the courtyard leading to the sisters prayer area is crowded with so many wanting to offer two Rak’ats for Umrah…but with police cars lining all roads to the Masjid and diverting local traffic and no Ziyarah pilgrims the space was deserted…

…Masjid Juma’ah from the balustrade…

…with Jabal Uhud just to the right of it…oh to have been here a few decades ago when the vista would have been natural and open…the air fresh from the expanse of palm groves…bird song filling the air…oh to have been here when the call was made that our Blessed Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam was appearing for the first time to the safety and security of this Radiant City…Alhumdulillah for one’s imagination and dreams…surely that was the day the noblest of the noble, Allah Ta’ala’s chosen one, the Mercy to Mankind SallAllahu alaihi wasallam entered Madinah…

The following is a little drop from the ocean of Sayyidi al-Habib’s words from last week’s mawild in Dar al-Mustafa on the 20th of Rabi al-Awwal 1434 / 31st January 2013 as translated by Sidi Amin Buxton (Allah preserve him and his teachers, and benefit us by them). The translation of this talk can be viewed from here.

Your connection to the Chosen One (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and your knowledge of his prophethood, his greatness and his station in the sight of Allah is a blessing.

The more you thank Allah for this blessing, the more He will increase you in the blessing that is Muhammad. Your knowledge of his prophethood, his greatness and his station in the sight of Allah will then be increased. The more you thank Him, the more He will increase you.

He says:

If you are grateful, I will surely increase you.  (14:7)

This increase has no limit and it will take you to the Abode of Goodness and more:

For those who excelled is goodness, and more than that. No darkness or abasement shall cover their faces. They are the people of the Garden and they will abide therein for ever.  (10:26)

…words could never describe the wanton destruction done to our beloved Ghar Uhud…synonyms may express horror, sacrilege, scandal, violation, disgrace, desecration…an all too familiar word associated with our heritage and places with direct associations with out Blessed Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam…never again will the interior of the cave see the light of day…

…as the entrance has been SEALED with a huge wall of concrete!!!!! not visible in this photo taken yesterday by my VVVBFF the DH…yes, the previous hideous signs have gone…as the ‘authorities’ are confident the new wire fence that snakes its way from the ‘bandage place’ will meet the section at the foot of Jabal Uhud near the building currently being constructed…weird…as not many years ago there were rumours that all housing would be demolished around this ‘mountain that loves us and we love it’...

…where is the respect due to Babul Jannah????

…but not to despair…as the ‘beautification’ around the Shuhadaa site is ongoing with newly installed light fittings…

…and work on the new Masjid in progress…

…this is the view almiskeenah has had for the past few weeks…hence explaining the prolonged absence from updating this space and the neglect in replying to comments or answering emails…Insha’Allah your Du’a is very much needed as this needy one, once again faces surger…meaning further delays before I will have the energy or access to posting…Alhumdulillah the ‘list’ is with me and being frequently read…apologies…with love…

…hot..crowds…disbelief…grumble…

…Al-Ghars well taken almost two years ago…

…from when this patch of concrete was a window…this is how it is now…

…Al Ghars Well taken today from the grill seen to the left of the photo below…

…where not so long ago the Asmaa ul-Husna adorned the walls…but no longer…the efforts to prevent seekers and lovers from what few sites remain of our rich and illustrious heritage beggars belief…

…as does the presence of the ‘vice squad’ in Masjid Fa’th shouting to the crowds, who have braved extreme heat to visit the notable sites, that they are not permitted to pray there…

…the flow of pilgrims up and down the steps was dense…as it was at all the main places for Ziyarah…buses were lined up in the hundreds at Khandaq, Quba, Qiblatain and the site of the Shuhadah at Uhud…with private cars and taxis adding to the traffic congestion…

…the next disbelief was to find that the Salman Farisi Masjid is locked…but this did not prevent those wanting to offer Salat there from ‘borrowing’ a prayer mat from the vendor and praying in the doorway…

…but what is permitted are these traders in droves…disregarding the hazard they cause as the crowds attempt to negotiate getting to the place of significance…and a total disregard for the rubbish that is created…

…and also what is permitted are the tons of cheap imported clothes with inappropriate and unnecessary images for us as the Ummah of Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam…

…colourful summery scenes…

…all that is missing is the water!!!

…I can never understand why the presence of these vendors, in such numbers, selling the same items everywhere are all obviously condoned…and yet we are not allowed to look into an historic well…grumble grumble…

…and why so many pilgrims are so easily distracted from the actual reason why they are making such an effort, in the searing sun, ‘to go shopping’…the presence of the Shayateen’s favourite haunt, markets, must have them laughing heartily…AstaghfiruLlah…

…Sayyidna Hamza RadhiAllahu anhu’s resting place is only visible through various holes that have been broken in the opaque perspex that has been erected to ‘prevent’ us looking in…where does this attitude come from…what harm is it for the Ummah to ‘see’ that which fills the heart with love and a sublime awe for our golden past??

…instead we are ‘forced’ to see these dusty, ugly, messy stalls…littering where the esteemed Sahabah RadhiAllahu anhu sacrificed so much…where our Beloved Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam was wounded…why have we allowed our attention, our love, our Deen, to be sabotaged??? AstaghfiruLlahu…

…where the traders re constantly ‘dusting’…grumble grumble…

…foundations for the new Masjid at the Shuhadah site…looking towards Jabal Uhud…

…returning to the courtyard with the spraying mist under the shade of the umbrellas was a welcomed and serene balm for the dehydrated body…and soul…

…Insha’Allah…please make excessive Du’a for the Haramain…for the Ummah to not only LOVE the Deen but to ACTUALIZE it from deep within their hearts so that the limbs portray this love, Ameen…

…snap twenty…look what they have done to our beloved Jabal Uhud…desecration of a different kind by adding such an eye sore…four signs in four languages conveying the usual rant…actually our visit yesterday was quite surreal…Turkish brothers where playing soccer with the local street urchins…the ones who usually are pleading for money…another group were gathered around making Du’a and chanting Salawat…the narrow alleyway was congested with many walking to and from the site as well as cars unable to move as just below these signs was a ‘vice car’ with a single young ‘vice squad brother’ attempting to tell people to either not climb to the cave, or to come down immediately…a comedy of futility as not one person was paying him any attention…power to the people…a Jabal Uhud Spring!!

…doors and windows…

O Lord, give us in this world doors that fling wide open stubborn hearts that have forgotten how to turn to You. Open windows of our minds to Your Commands. Open doors and windows that will release love and compassion towards Your creation, that will release reason and intellect so we know what our purpose is. Open doors and windows of understanding and liberate souls from the shackles of the Dunya. Open doors and windows so we can make more effort in gaining entry into Your Kingdom, Your Garden. Open doors and windows so our love for your Habib SallAllahu alaihi wasallam is more beloved to us than anything in Your creation.

O You the Comforter and Companion of all lonely persons,

O You who is near and not remote,

O You who is present and not away,

O You who overcomes all and is not subdued in any way,

O You the Everlasting and Sustainer,

the Majestic and the Benevolent.

O You who is the light of the heavens and the earth;

O You who is the embellishment of heavens and earth;

O You the Mighty Sovereign of the heavens and the earth;

O You the sole support of the heavens and the earth;

O You the Originator of the heavens and the earth;

O You the Sustainer of heavens and earth;

O You the Majestic and the Benevolent;

O You who accedes to entreaties,

and is the last resort of seekers of protection,

relieves the pain of people in anguish,

soothes the sorrow of the grieved ones,

favourably responds to the prayer of the uneasy supplicants;

O You who removes all uneasiness;

O Lord of all the worlds; O You who is Most Merciful and Compassionate, we humble place all our wants before You. Ameen.

…where one can also see Jabal Uhud in relation to Masjid Quba…one of the minarets to the right…the shed is a storage space for one of the few remaining expansive date groves in the area…land that at the time of the Hijrah was densely covered with date palms…

…and close to where our Master and Liegelord, Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam and his faithful Companion Abu Bakr As-Siddiq first arrived from the Hijrah…and Allah, the Almighty knows best…

…so what doors and windows will you courageously fling open this Juma’ah?
