…all in a days walk…

…summer has definitely arrived after a rather prolonged few months of bearable temperatures…but now the 40′s have begun…and so have the supplies of melons…trucks weighted down line the popular roads…but this is a hazard as the usual habit for people here is to suddenly stop to buy form the street vendors without caring that they may be triple parking and holding up traffic or causing car behind them to swerve dangerously…all adding to the colour and charm of being in Al Madinah Al Munawwarah…how the days of camels would have been safer and a different level of chaos…

…it stirs the soul to see that pigeons are cared for…containers of fresh water are filled throughout the day…they seemed to take it in turns to splash about…

…hard manual labour in the searing sun…the law requires all outdoor work to cease during the intense midday hours…Insha’Allah employees abide by this and also remember the Hadith about paying their workers before the sweat dries from their brow…surely Madinatun Nabi is the place where this is respected…

…a soft early morning light caresses the minarets while highlighting the new street lighting…

…the last remains of green framing the new Qiblah hotel…this garden has been reduced to a few trees…the bird song reduced…preparing for another hotel excavation I presume and for the vast changes this southern side will see as the new fly over is constructed and the old one demolished opening the land for development…

…one of the main facades of the huge Qiblah complex…the largest hotel in the city…it is ten years since it was started…Insha’Allah it will be functioning for the crowds in Ramadhan…

…a unique coach…wonder if it travels at the speed of the magnificent leopard?

…the diversity of groups with their distinct creative ‘uniforms’ adds the to visual spectacle while stirring the soul knowing that Allah Ta’ala brings pilgrims from every nation to our two sacred places, SubhanAllah!

…’self portrait’…he he he…to prove this humble speck has been blessed with some mobility…Alhumdulillah Alf ShukriLlahu!!!

…the constant round the clock cleaning of the umbrellas…

…trying to conjure how much water is used in and around the Masjid is boggling…these trumpet shaped nozzles deliver a high pressure flow to deal with the dust…

…they are filling in all the gaps…ghasp…soon there will be no place to see the developments unless one has access from higher floors in the nearby hotels…why prohibit people from seeing the progress??

…previous visit was about ten days ago…crash::bang::rumble::dust…the stripped buildings are still standing as the focus is on clearing the area of the mangled steel and flattening the site…hence dozens of earth moving trucks are lined up to be filled with the excess earth…what blessed secrets may this earth be holding??

…the green area is where they are currently working…as can be seen it is a fraction of the whole design…the pink is the area of the current Masjid Nabawi…maybe the three inner open courtyard areas of the new plan will mean that these parts corresponding to the northern courtyard will remain as the foundation of these three sections…Allahu ‘Alum…

…the heat and dust bleach the scene…

…if one is seeking a quiet calm while visiting our Radiant city then Insha’Allah it forever resides in the heart and no clanging or crashing of machinery can affect this…

…the only door into the site from the Baqi side…there may come a time when courage is found to ask if a quick step inside is OK to snap some quick shots…guess one will only hear mamnou’…Alhumdulillah…

…leaving…

…entering…bags to be checked…

…arriving…a 24/7 choreography at the eastern sisters section…Alhumdulillah…

…brothers sit at all the main gateways to the Masjid selling the Mushaf…many donate copies to the Masjid as well as purchase for gifts to take back to their home lands…

…this was a row of about ten brothers outside the King Fahd gate mid morning…the early bird getting the shade…

…while others used cardboard and prayer mats to cover their head from the intense heat…

…the mist fans operate during the hottest part of the day…considerably lowering the temperatures underneath the umbrellas…

…bringing relief to those lining up to fill containers with Zamzam which is transported from Makkah on a daily basis and available at this filling station at the north west corner of the courtyard…

…Insha’Allah Du’a flows during this auspicious month where Allah Ta’ala’s promised forgiveness for our repentance is most high…Insha’Allah be steadfast for Hidayah to pierce hearts and for the Deen to flourish in the Haramain as it was during the times of our Noble Nabi SallAllahu alaihi wasallam, Ameen…

All good is from Allah Ta’ala whereas mistakes are from this humble speck. May Allah Ta’ala Bless all readers, bringing you all closer to Him and His Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.  May He accept our humble efforts and grant us the capacity to be good and do good. Ameen.

…jewellery…jewels…

…jewellery is meant to be worn as a fashion and/or status statement…for those who do not know almiskeenah, her jewellery is hidden inside the body in the form of titanium screws and cage inserted into the spine…for months now things related to this inner jewellery box have been slightly askew…culminating over the past few weeks into an inevitable addition to this secret jewellery box…Alhumdulillah for such surgical technology and Alhumdulillah for the jewels embedded in tests that allow us to submit more and more to all that Allah Ta’ala has written…

…Insha’Allah Du’a and understanding would be appreciated as to why there may not be updates to this site for an unknown time…

…Alhumdulillah for the continuous bejewelled lineage of our Noble Nabi SallAllahu alaihi wasallam…listen to the son of Habib Umar reciting a very moving Salawaat, whilst recently in Australia with Habib Kadhim, may Allah Ta’ala preserve and bless the Habaib, Ameen…

…a curtain for the paradise behind…

“Every soul shall taste death in the end; to Us shall you be brought back.” (29:57)

…how we all know this to be the end reality…but how do we truly encompass this ultimate meeting with our Rabb Subhanahu wa Ta’ala as we live each day as if the end will never come…assuming Malakul Maut Alahis Salam, will surely visit when we are old and withered, crumpled and brittle as an autumn leaf…when eye sight is feeble…the body wracked with aches and pains…the memory fading and the breath short and crackly…

…how we all know we surely will never escape the beckoning of Malakul Maut…when he has been commissioned nothing can prevent his visit…

…but as much as death is the only inevitable thing in life, the shock that Allah Ta’ala desires a young vibrant and lovable mother, wife, sister, daughter to be called back to Him jolts the heart…Inna liLlahi wa inna ilaihi rajeoon…

…the expat community in this City of Radiance are rejoicing on the one hand that such a dear Mu’minah has been granted what we all desire with our Hijrah here, to be blessed to be in Jannatul Baqi, SubhanAllah, but it is the sudden reminder that Allah Ta’ala is the Al Hikmah and only He knows what is best for any of us…He is the One and Only Al Muhyi, the Giver of Life and Al Mumit, the Taker of Life…and He is the One to decide when and how to take what belongs to Him…our life and living…all is a gift on loan…

…the following poignant Rumi has been posted as a balm and solace for other loved ones who are residing in Baqi Gharqad and who will surely be raised on the Day of Resurrection with our Beloved Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam…(Sister Z, Dr Abu Bakr, Baba Ji, along with many other posts from the archives in the Baqi Gharqad and death category)

when i die
when my coffin
is being taken out
you must never think
i am missing this world

don’t shed any tears
don’t lament or
feel sorry
i’m not falling
into a monster’s abyss

when you see
my corpse is being carried
don’t cry for my leaving
i’m not leaving
i’m arriving at eternal love

when you leave me
in the grave
don’t say goodbye
remember a grave is
only a curtain
for the paradise behind

you’ll only see me
descending into a grave
now watch me rise
how can there be an end
when the sun sets or
the moon goes down

it looks like the end
it seems like a sunset
but in reality it is a dawn
when the grave locks you up
that is when your soul is freed

have you ever seen
a seed fallen to earth
not rise with a new life
why should you doubt the rise
of a seed named human

have you ever seen
a bucket lowered into a well
coming back empty
why lament for a soul
when it can come back
like Joseph from the well

when for the last time
you close your mouth
your words and soul
will belong to the world of
no place no time

A Celebration of Life and Love

…may we be thankful and grateful for every aspect of the life we are given…may this thankfulness be active in our every step and breath with actions that strive for Allah Ta’ala’s sake…may we be constantly mindful of what we are doing, who we are doing it for and how it will be recorded…continuously remembering that Malakul Maut may visit at any given moment…may we work for the Hereafter, for our salvation, for an end with unwavering Iman…may we all be believers who are not afraid of death because we have made preparations for it by striving to perfect our faith… seeking knowledge so that we will reap the fruits of  a lush and bountiful sowing…

… it would be most pleasing to know that dear readers will make Du’a for Sister A’s soul,  her bereaved family and friends, both here in Al Madinah Al Munawwarah as well as loved ones back ‘home’…InshaAllah Al Fatihah and Surah Ya Seen…

…may Sister A have already arrived at eternal love and now be behind the curtain delighting in the Garden of Bliss,  Ameen…

O Allah! We beg of You unwavering faith, unending grace and the company of our Beloved Messenger SallAllahu alaihi wasallam in high stations of everlasting Paradise. O Allah! Grant us martyrdom in Thy cause and bless us with death in the City of Your Messenger. Ameen.

…dream…

Oh beloved of the Lord, hear my greeting, hear my call

Bless this seeker of your love with the vision of you.
From Talib al-Habib’s Songs of Innocence

Abu Al-Qasim al-Subki narrated in al-Durr al-munazzam fi al-mawlid al-mu’azzam that the Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam said: “Whoever sends prayers upon the soul of Muhammad among the souls, upon his body among bodies, upon his grave among graves, he will behold me in his dream vision. And whoever beholds me in his dream vision will behold me on the Day of Resurrection; and whoever beholds me on the Day of Resurrection shall receive my intercession and whoever receives my intercession shall drink from my basin [Hawd] and Allah will forbid his body from the Fire.”

…seventeen means of obtaining the blessed vision of our Beloved Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam shared here, with additional inspirating narrations here

ON THE MEANS OF BEHOLDING THE PROPHET SallAllahu alaihi wasallam IN A DREAM by Imam Yusuf b. Isma’il al-Nabahani…(click image to enter Ihsanica site)

This unique collection, taken from Imam Yusuf al-Nabahani’s monumental Sa‘adat al-darayn fi al-salat ‘ala Sayyid al-kawnayn (Felicity in the Two Abodes Through Prayers upon the Master of the Two Realms – may Allah bless him and grant him peace), details forty tried and true methods for seeing the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) in a dream. Gleaned from the works of the early and later spiritual masters, this collection is a veritable treasury of Gnostic expressions of prophetic love and longing. Each supplication is presented in its original Arabic along with its translation and transliteration.

Whoever beholds the Chosen One (al-Mustafa) in a dream shall receive a good end at death (Husn al-khatima); he shall gain the Prophet’s (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) Intercession and win unto Paradise; Allah will forgive him and his parents (if they were Muslims); it will be as if he completed the Quran twelve times; the pangs of death will be made easy for him to bear; the torment of the grave shall be removed from him; he will enjoy security from the terrors of the Day of Standing; and with Allah’s subtle kindness and generosity, all of his needs in this life and the Next will be fulfilled.

Do not be saddened, dear reader, if you implement some of the means presented here and fail to behold the Messenger of Allah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam: it is enough of an honour for you that Allah has blessed you with the ability and pure intention to invoke blessings and salutations upon His Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. Allah does not make one’s tongue moist with praises for His Beloved SallAllahu alaihi wasallam save that He blesses that person with more and draws him or her near. And what’s more, Allah has blessed you with the intense longing to see His Messenger SallAllahu alaihi wasallam, and that alone may be the wind in your sail to drive you unto him and be under his standard on the Last Day and to drink of his pure Pond.

JUMA’AH MUBARAK!

…the above three photos are details the Qiblah Wall in Masjid Nabawi…they were received in an email so apologies for not giving credit where credit is due…

…the photo that adorns the cover of the above book is the decorative Mihrab marking the place where our Beloved Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam led the prayer…the current Mihrab is directly behind this, recessed in the Qiblah Wall…the pillar directly behind the Prophet  SallAllahu alaihi wasallam’s Mihrab marks the position where our Noble Nabi SallAllahu alaihi wasallam would deliver the Khutbah whilst leaning on the date palm trunk which wept bitterly when a new Mimbar was made…it is called the Perfumed Pillar, as well as al-Hannana,

…off to dream, Insha’Allah…and please excuse this humble speck…a short Rajab hiatus is to begin…

…a symphony…

Maghrib Symphony in Taqwa Major!

Cymbals crash,

a thundery pulse booms from the percussion instruments

orchestrated to accompany the falling sins as thousands wash, wipe, gargle and snuff

in preparation for meeting the One and Only to Whom we lower our lowly heads.

the strings hit notes of sublime majesty, coalescing with the celestial sounds of Angels’ wings

as they caress the Green Dome, dispatching Salam in numbers matching ocean bubbles,

to glide away with multifarious replies glittering as a concoction

of every shimmering dewdrop created, with the sparkle and twinkle

of the mass sum of constellations and the Milky Way.

thus is the lure of the Maghrib Symphony, played in Taqwa Major!

the lyrical grace notes suddenly slide into drums beating a marching, striding purposeful rhythm, mesmerizing and mobilizing feet of the devout.

wrinkled feet, white, black, brown feet. old, bare, painted, and stocking feet,

feet propelled;  dusty feet, cracked  feet, soft baby feet.

a maelstrom of patter, running, sauntering, shuffling magnetized momentum,

cymbals, timpani and tubular bells synchronize in surround sound.

the most blessed of earth records the identity of every present soul, witnessing.

every tiny pebble, every mote of dust, stretches of shiny marble, worn reflective concrete mirrors,

witnessing intentions of the reflective mirror of hearts protected in cages of ribs

as they beat on cue to an expected crescendo.

souls dance in anticipation of the ultimate bow of humility,

the bow to the unfurling of all veils

accompanied by a human chorus exalting …submitting.

a massed praising; a choral refrain of hushed mumbled glorifications

interspersed with delicate clicks of wood, stone, seeds and plastic.

the climax is imminent as sunlight weaves into twilight

sun slipping off stage behind a dusk curtain.

The Conductors baton is raised,

the giant tuning forks vibrate

the Universe vibrates……..

…and the prayer of Ibrahim ibn Adham, Rahmatullahi alaihi…

Ibrahim ibn Bashshar, his servant, related that he used to say this prayer every Friday, morning and night:

‘Welcome to the day of abundance, the new morning, the scribe, and the witness! This day is a festive day. Write for us in it what we say in the name of God, the Praiseworthy, the Glorious, The Exalted, the Affectionate, and the Doer of what He wishes in His creation. I have entered upon the morning, with faith in God, with belief in the Meeting with God, confessing His Proof, seeking forgiveness of my sin, bowing down before the lordship of God, denying the divinity to any other God, being in need of God, trusting in God, and turning repentantly to God. I testify to God, His angels, His prophets, His messengers, the carriers of His Throne, those whom He created, and those whom He is creating, that He is God, beside whom there is no god, who is alone and has no associate, and that Muhammad (may God bless him and grant him peace) is His servant and Emissary, and that the Heaven is a reality; and Hell is a reality; and the Pool is a reality; and the Intercession is a reality; and Munkar and Nakir are a reality; and the Meeting with You is a reality; and the Hour is coming and there is no doubt about it, and that God will resurrect those who are in doubt about it, and that God will resurrect those who are in their graves. With [faith in] this I live and with it I die and with it I shall be resurrected, if God wills. O God, You are my Lord! There is no god but You. You have created me and I am Your servant, and I will observe my covenant and promise to You as much as I can. I take refuge with You, O God, from the evil I did and from the evil of every possessor of evil. O God, verily I wronged myself. Forgive me my sins, for no one forgives sins but You. Guide me to the best of human qualities, for no one guides to the best of them but You. Dispel from us their evil. For verily no one dispels their evil but You. here I am intent upon Your service and upon aiding Your cause. All good is in Your Hand. I belong to You. I believe, O God, in the prophets whom You have sent, and I believe, O God, in the books which You have revealed. May God send ample blessing and peace upon Muhammad, the Unlettered Prophet, and upon his family, the seal of my speech and the key to it, and upon His prophets and Emissaries, all of them. Amen. O Lord of the worlds! O God, bring us to the Pool of Muhammad and give us from his cup a drink, thirst-quenching, pleasant tasting and delicious, after which we shall never thirst again. Assemble us [on Doomsday] in his group, not as the ashamed, nor the violators of the covenants, nor the skeptics, nor the tempted, nor those against whom You are wrathful, nor those who are astray. O God make me free from the temptations of this world and help me to obtain what You like and are well pleased with. Improve all my states and affairs for me. Strengthen me with the word which is firmly established in this life and the next. Lead me not astray, even if I commit a wrong. Glory be to You! O Exalted, O Magnificent, O Originator, O Compassionate, O Mighty, O Compeller! Glory be to Him Whom the heavens glorify with their wings! Glory be to Him Whom the seas glorify with their billows! Glory be to Him Whom the mountains glorify with their echoes! Glory be to Him Whom the fish glorify with their tongues! Glory be to Him Whom the stars glorify with the constellations! Glory be to Him Whom the trees glorify with their roots and fruits! Glory be to Him Whom the seven heavens and the seven earths and those who are in and on them glorify! Glory be to Him Whom each of His creatures glorifies! May You bless Yourself and exalt Yourself! Glory be to You! Glory be to You! O Living, O Self-Subsistent, O Omniscient, O Affectionate! Glory be to You! There is no god but You, Who are alone and have no associate. You give life and death, and You are living and never die. In Your Hand is good. You are powerful over all things.
