Tag Archives: Abode of Felicity

…step by slow step…

…and with each slow faltering step the sweetest of kisses from Madinah’s exquisite breeze brushes the cheek …a sublime silky touch…caressing all hungry souls as it billows directly from our Master SallAllahu alaihi wasallam at the Abode of  Felicity…and billow it does…a perpetual flow so powerful it is capable of reaching every atom of creation and every heart that makes the effort to allow space for this breeze to enter…delete that which hinders this flow now…be receptive to the greatest love from the greatest of mankind SallAllahu alaihi wasallam…

…Alhumdulillah and alf alf alf ShukriLlahu this needy speck was taken to Masjid Nabawi for Esha a couple of nights ago…Insha’Allah with each passing day mobility will be fully restored and, Insha’Allah soon the gift of independently walking back and forth will be granted…jubilation… celebration…gratitude…understanding the magnitude of this blessing of being able to once again physically be among fellow worshippers…

…the inner joy to be in the courtyard among sisters from around the globe was exuberance at maximum volume!

And the world cannot be discovered by a journey of miles, no matter how long, but only by a spiritual journey, a journey of one inch, very arduous and humbling and joyful, by which we arrive at the ground at our own feet, and learn to be at home.

Wendell Berry

…SubhanAllah…’by which we arrive at the ground at our own feet!!!!!’…surely this is all that demands our attention at any given moment…and then, Insha’Allah we learn to be at home with that…what a profound quote…

…gratitude with grace while embracing change…progress from wheelchair to walking frame to crutches to walking stick…gratitude with grace for no longer being able to practice the Sunnah of sleeping, eating, praying on the floor…gratitude with grace for the alternatives…a quiet musalla area adorned by handmade gifts from a never met blog friend…gratitude with grace for the old faithful  desk fitted with legs and a new chair…gratitude with grace for friends visiting, bringing meals, arranging cleaning…and you all for your much felt Du’a…

It is a blessing when things don’t go to plan, because it helps reshape priorities. A lesson relearned. We plot and plan, but Allah is the best of planners.

From Sidi Tim…whose sentiments often resonate within my own collective brain waves…running on empty…numbness in the forehead…words like glum…an all too familiar sensation for this one of late…what secret surgery was performed during my last encounter? …as too many things feel odd and disconnected…but Alhumdulillah requiring turnaround attitudes…re-evaluating and assessing the big picture…what were the simplest of tasks and taking little time during the daily necessities now seem major productions…the everyday domestic activities…lately the swirling around in this feeble mind is the question of will this blog continue…the reality being that not only time, the recent isolation, and hence no roaming around taking photos, but the more important  inner state of commitment…the loss of a voice…words stuck deep within…or just not there anyway…a huge shift…nay rift…has been etched inside somewhere…what to do…continue to take small slow steps and be patient with all that Allah Ta’ala has planned…because we all know that He knows what is the best for each of us…regardless of what our circumstance may be right in the here and now…this is the essence of our Deen…the beauty of submitting…accepting all with grace…and being cognizant of what we ask Allah Ta’ala for…feeling run down and worn out last year one of the frequent requests in my Du’a was was for time out…SubhanAllah…this Du’a was answered in the most unexpected ways…ALHUMDULILLAH for the vicarious sweetest of kisses brushing the cheeks from Madinah’s exquisite breeze…a sublime silky touch…close your eyes, take a deep breath of gratitude with grace and you too will feel them!!!

…jewellery…jewels…

…jewellery is meant to be worn as a fashion and/or status statement…for those who do not know almiskeenah, her jewellery is hidden inside the body in the form of titanium screws and cage inserted into the spine…for months now things related to this inner jewellery box have been slightly askew…culminating over the past few weeks into an inevitable addition to this secret jewellery box…Alhumdulillah for such surgical technology and Alhumdulillah for the jewels embedded in tests that allow us to submit more and more to all that Allah Ta’ala has written…

…Insha’Allah Du’a and understanding would be appreciated as to why there may not be updates to this site for an unknown time…

…Alhumdulillah for the continuous bejewelled lineage of our Noble Nabi SallAllahu alaihi wasallam…listen to the son of Habib Umar reciting a very moving Salawaat, whilst recently in Australia with Habib Kadhim, may Allah Ta’ala preserve and bless the Habaib, Ameen…

…Hadramawt connections…

…sitting here with blessed visitors the conversation was constantly glittered with SubhanAllah superlatives…the heart and soul tugging strings that were  anchoring us to how we were perceiving what was around us…however allowing these strings to be released one is able to descend beyond the real and to be free to be transported back in time…imagine…even  a thousand years before our Beloved Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam a letter being stored in the area approximately corresponding to the right edge of this photo…the place marking where the house of Abu Ayyub Ansari RadhiAllahu anhu’s house was…imagine even then, of some one realizing the sacredness of the Mubarak dust of this Enlightened City (link to a moving five minute clip with Shaykh Ibrahim Osi-Efa…a MUST watch!)….imagine a love so intense for one who was a thousand years away from entering this world, and yet believing in him and seeking his intercession…read of the incredible story of a Yemeni King who sent a letter to our Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam a thousand years before his birth, seeking his intercession! And Allah the Almighty knows best of the authenticity of this account…

They took the soil of Medina and smelled it…they wished to live in Medina and stated that if they were fortunate, one day they would meet the Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. But if they didn’t, the dust from the Holy Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam’s sandals would land on their graves. This at least, they thought, would bring blessings and be their salvation.

~*~

…imagine hearing the Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam saying: ‘I can smell the beauty of my friend from the land of Yemen’…and ‘I feel a sweet, peaceful breeze (naseem-e-rehmat) from Yemen’…while referring to the esteemed Owais al-Qarni who never sighted our Beloved Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam, but whose love was so intense and would invoke Allah Ta’ala:

“O Allah, You created me when I was not worthy of mention;
And You provided for me when I had nothing;
And I wronged my soul and sinned, and I confess my guilt.
If You forgive me, that will in no way diminish Your sovereignty;
And if You punish me, that will in no way augment Your authority.
You can find others to punish besides me,
But I can find no one to forgive me but You.
Truly, You are the most merciful of those who show mercy.”

~*~

…imagine the immense blessings and honour that Allah the Most High has bestowed upon the lands of Yemen and giving it a unique status that no other place, besides the two sacred cities of Makkah and Madinah, enjoys…read about these from the serene and tranquil Tarim, where the family of our Beloved Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam continue with teaching and living his  noble Sunnah… whose gems and treasures can be found in these pages: Habib ‘Umar, Habib Ali, Habib Kadhim al-Saqqaf…may Allah Ta’ala preserve and sanctify their secrets, Ameen…

…so vicariously sit right now…give freedom to the heart and soul to journey back in time and space and imbibe in Hadramawti love and belief…and then access the wealth of knowledge that continues to flow from this Mubarak land via the noble lineage of our Beloved Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam…and Insha’Allah make Du’a for them and for all students sacrificing for the Deen as they study there, Ameen…

…today’s walk to Masjid Nabawi…

O Allah! Bestow blessings on Sayyidina Muhammad,
who is the best among Prophets sent by You
and the most noble among Your chosen people,
the leader of the saints, and the Seal of the Prophets,
and the beloved of the Lord of the Worlds,
a witness for the Messengers of Allah (on the Day of Judgement)
and the intercessor for sinners,
the leader of all the children of Prophet Adam Alayhissalaam;
whose remembrance has been exalted among the highest angels,
who brings glad tidings (of heaven) and warns (against hell-fire),
a shining light, truthful, trustworthy, manifest truth,
most kind and merciful, the guide to the straight path,
whom You gave the seven often-repeated verses of Surah Fatiha
and the magnificent Qur’an,
the Prophet of mercy and the guide of the nation,
the first one to be resurrected and to enter paradise,
and one who is supported by angels Jibril and Meekaail,
whose coming had been foretold in the Torah and the Bible,
Mustafa, Mujtaba, the selected one, the father of Qasim,
Muhammad, son of ‘Abdillah, son of ‘Abdil Muttalib, son of Hashim.

…snap::twelve…

Even if it could be written to sit here till the Day of Rising,

The eyes would forever weep, until they rested upon yours.

The hands forever raised, until extended to give you Salam.

The tongue forever moving, until speechless at your countenance.

The feet forever frozen, until walking by your side.

The heart forever wretched, until inflamed by your smile.

The ears forever deaf, until the sound of your voice.

The lights forever dim, until illuminated by your presence.

The gaze forever blurry, until your fragrance restores clarity.

The soul forever lost, until you cry ‘Ummati Ummati.‘

Allahumma Salli ‘alaa Sayyidina wa Maulana Muhammadin ‘adada maa fee ‘ilmillahi Salaatan daa’imatan bi dawaami mulk illah.

JazaLlahu anna Sayyidina Muhammadun salaAllahu alayhi wasalama maa huwa ahluhu.

…a quiet interval…

Be quiet in your mind, quiet in your senses, and also quiet in our body. Then, when all these are quiet, don’t do anything. In that state truth will reveal itself to you. It will appear in front of you and ask, “What do you want?”
