Common transliterated Arabic phrases with their Anglicized meanings.
Bismillah: In the Name of Allah/God
Insha’Allah: Allah/God Willing
Subhanallah: All Glory is to Allah/God
Alhumdulillah: All Praise is to Allah/God
Allahu Akbar: Allah/God is Greatest
Ta’ala: Salutation after mentioning Allah: The Almighty
SallAllahu alaihi wasallam: salutation after mentioning the name of the Prophet. May Allah bless him eternally and grant him peace.
Radhiallahu Anhum: May Allah be pleased with them. Other endings when referring to a single male or female, or two, or more.
Alaihis Salam: Peace be upon him
Sabr: Patience
Shukr: Gratitude
Ummah: The followers of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam
Sunnah: The way as taught by Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam
