doors, spouts, silver and gold…

Thousands are streaming towards Allah Ta’ala’s House. Arriving on foot from every direction via land, sea and air using various ‘modern’ lean camels, filling this sacred valley with Labbaik Labbaik, Ever at Your call, Ever at Your call!
Gazing upon Baitullah and all it’s salient features for the millions blessed with an invite to perform the pilgrimage demands total submission, a profound form of worship, leaving the Dunya behind with the hope that one is returned as pure as a new born. The Ka’abah is the physical edifice symbolic of Allah Ta’ala’s Presence, with the ultimate focus being for the heart and soul to seek the deepest of spiritual unions far beyond the tangible. Insha’Allah, the esteemed features inspire the awe to make this a powerful and deep connection.
Allah Ta’ala has gifted so many with the talent and skills that have contributed to the embellishment of the Ka’abah over the centuries. The artistry and craftsmanship displaying perfection of the highest calibre.
One of these artisans, Sheikh Ahmad bin Ibrahim Badr, who recast the golden door of the Kaaba, refurbished the Meezab and the silver casing holding the Black Stone was recently called back to his Rabb, Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. Inna liLlahi wa inna ilaihi rajeoon.

The Door as commissioned by King Abdul Aziz bin Abdur Rahman in 1363 AH, which is now in the Museum.
The current Door that was made during the reign of King Khalid bin Abdul Aziz in 1399AH by Sheikh Ahmad bin Ibrahim Badr.
There are fifteen circular motifs arranged around the wide frame bearing fifteen of Allah Ta’ala’s Names. The three along the top are:
Ya Wasi’, Ya Mani’, Ya Nafi’
Those along the right side:
Ya ‘Aalim, Ya ‘Aleem, Ya Haleem, Ya ‘Azeem, Ya Hakeem, Ya Raheem.
And along the left side:
Ya Ghany, Ya Mughny, Ya Hameed, Ya Majeed, Ya Subhan, Ya Musta’an.
The top of each door is inscribed with Allah Jalla Jalaaluhu Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam, followed by Qur’anic verses:
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
Enter with peace and safety (15:46)
Allah has made the Ka’bah the Sacred House, as well as the sacred months a means by which mankind is maintained. (5:97)
Say, O my Rabb! Allow me to enter a pleasant place , allow me to leave pleasantly and grant me such authority from Yourself that is coupled with (Your) assistance. (17:80)
Your Rabb has made mercy (towards you) compulsory upon Himself. (6:54)
Your Rabb says, “Supplicate to Me and I shall respond.” (23:60)
Beneath this follows:
La illaha illa Allah Muhammadur Rasulullah
Say, “O My bondsmen who have wronged their souls, never lose hope of Allah’s mercy. (39:53)
Allahu Akbar appears on the two rings and Surah Fatihah is engraved beneath the lock.
SubhanAllah, we are reminded that we have arrived to the Door of the One Who is extremely forgiving, compassionate and benevolent. He Who showers His unlimited mercies on all, and Whose Door no one returns empty handed, or with an unmoved heart.
Comprehensive Du’as for Hajj, including all the maqams around the Sacred House.
The Meezab Rahmah, the water spout of mercy.
Here you can see where the Meezab is fitted into the roof.

Detail showing the spiky nails attached to the sides to prevent birds from perching on the spout.
A previous Meezab in the Makkah Museum.
May the Hujjaj glow spiritually brighter than the manifest gold and silver, shining with Barakah that in turn affects the hearts of the entire Ummah, Ameen.
All good is from Allah Ta’ala whereas mistakes are from this humble speck. May Allah Ta’ala Bless all readers, bringing you all closer to Him and His Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. May He accept our humble efforts and grant us the capacity to be good and do good. Ameen.

Inna liLlahi wa inna ilaihi rajeoon on the death this great artisan. how can one guess the appreciation he must have gathered of millions of faithfuls in his life who looked at this door!!!and how reward awaits him in akhira no body can tell.but the real intent behind all this material effort should be”May the Hujjaj glow spiritually brighter than the manifest gold and silver, shining with Barakah that in turn affects the hearts of the entire Ummah, Ameen”.
