Evening Ziyarah
Mar 2nd, 2009 by almiskeenah

The following accounts, accompanied by photos from last evening, is shared with the generous permission of Shaykh GF Haddad, may Alah Ta’ala increase him in knowledge and grant his final station to be with our Beloved Messenger SallAllahu alaihi wasallam, Ameen.
No one knew the Messenger of Allah, upon him blessings and peace, better than his own family and companions. On the occasion of the month of his noble birth, I have selected and translated some of
their poetry in praise of him, bearing in mind that both the small number and the English rendition are just the proverbial drop in the ocean.

The Prophet’s uncle, al-`Abbas ibn `Abd al-Muttalib, Allah be well-pleased with him:
When you were born, a light rose over the earth
until it illuminated the horizon with its radiance.
We are in that illumination, that original light,
those paths of guidance.
– And thanks to them we pierce through.
Narrated by al-Tabarani, al-Bazzar, Ibn `Abd al-Barr in al-Isti`ab and Ibn al-Qayyim in Zad al-Ma`ad.

The Prophet’s cousin, `Abd Allah ibn `Abbas, Allah be well-pleased with them:
Whenever he spoke, something like light would be seen issuing from between his two front teeth.
Narrated from Ibn `Abbas by al-Darimi in his Sunan, al-Tirmidhi in the Shama’il, and al-Tabarani.

The Prophet’s wife, `A’isha bint Abi Bakr al-Siddiq, Allah be well-pleased with her:
Born of hale nurse unsoiled,
Were you to look at his facial traits
– they beam like a white lightning-cloud!
Narrated by Abu Nu`aym in Hilyat al-Awliya’, al-Khatib in Tarikh Baghdad, Ibn `Asakir in Tarikh Dimashq, and al-Bayhaqi in al-Sunan al-Kubra and Dala’il al-Nubuwwa.

The Prophet’s aunt, `Atika bint `Abd al-Muttalib, Allah be well-pleased with her:
When he left Makka for Madina, she recited:
My eyes have overflown with streaming tears
shed for the Uniquely Chosen One,
the Full Moon of the House of Hashim.
Narrated by al-Bayhaqi in Dala’il al-Nubuwwa and Ibn `Asakir in Tarikh Dimashq.

The Prophet’s uncle Abu Talib:
Allah derived for him a name from His own Name
so as to dignify him greatly:
The Owner of the Throne is the Most Glorious [Mahmud],
and here is the Praiseworthy One [Mu¬hammadu].
Narrated by al-Bukhari in al-Tarikh al-Saghir and Ibn Hajar in al-Isaba and Fath al-Bari.
Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal said: Sufyan ibn `Uyayna said: `Ali ibn Zayd ibn Jud`an said the scholars settled on the preceding verse as the best poetic verse ever declaimed.

The Prophet’s closest friend Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, Allah be well-pleased with him:
A trustworthy one, chosen, calling to goodness,
resembling the light of the full moon set off from darkness.
Narrated by al-Bayhaqi in Dala’il al-Nubuwwa.

`Umar ibn al-Khattab, Allah be well-pleased with him:
If you were anything other than a human being
You would be the light in the night of a full moon.
Narrated by al-Bayhaqi in Dala’il al-Nubuwwa.

`Abd al-Rahman ibn `Awf, Allah be well-pleased with him:
A Prophet came while people were wrapped in pride
and in the pitch-black darkness of the night of unbelief,
Whereupon he dispelled this darkness with abundant light,
and in this matter he was helped by each of those who submitted.
Ibn Sayyid al-Nas narrated it in Minah al-Madh.

The Prophet’s poet, Hassan ibn Thabit al-Ansari, Allah be well-pleased with him:
He left a people [the pagan Meccans] who preferred their minds over
him
and he dawned on a people [the Madinans] with a light made new.
Whenever his forehead emerged in pitch-black darkness,
it would shine like the blazing luminary of dark night.
Narrated by al-Bayhaqi in Dala’il al-Nubuwwa and Ibn `Abd al-Barr in al-Isti`ab.
He also said, as quoted by Ibn Hisham on the last page of his Sirat Rasulillah (”Life of the Messenger of Allah”):
He is the light and the brilliance we follow.
He is our sight and hearing second only to Allah….
By Allah, no woman has conceived and given birth
To one like the Messenger,
the Prophet and guide of his people.
Nor has Allah created among His creatures
One more faithful to his sojourner or his promise
Than he [Muhammad] who was the source of our light.

Al-Rubayyi` bint Mu`awwadh, Allah be well-pleased with her:
If you saw him you would say: The sun is rising.
Narrated by al-Tabarani in al-Mu`jam al-Kabir and al-Awsat and al-Bayhaqi in Dala’il al-Nubuwwa.

Ka`b ibn Malik, Allah be well-pleased with him:
I greeted the Prophet and there was lightning in his face.
Whenever the Prophet was happy, his face would be
illuminated as if it were a piece of the moon.
Narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim as well as Ahmad.
Aswad ibn Mas`ud al-Thaqafi, Allah be well-pleased with him:
Truly, the Prophet is he from whom all gifts are expected
When there is drought and when all rain dries up.
Narrated by Ibn Sayyid al-Nas in Minah al-Madh.

Anas ibn Zunaym, Allah be well-pleased with him:
No camel ever carried on its saddle
More righteous and more truthful than Muhammad.
Narrated by Ibn Sayyid al-Nas in Minah al-Madh and Ibn Hajar in al-Isaba.
Da`bal said of the above verse in Tabaqat al-Shu`ara’ (”Biographies of the Poets”): “This is the most truthful verse of poetry the Arabs ever declaimed.”
Al-`Abbas ibn Mirdas, Allah be well-pleased with him:
O Seal of all Prophets, truly you have been sent
with truth, and your guidance is Guidance itself.
Truly, the One God has ordained for you to be loved
by His creation, and has named you MUHAMMAD [most praised]!
Narrated by Ibn Ishaq in his Sira and Ibn Sayyid al-Nas in Minah al-Madh.

The young girls of the Ansar, Allah be well-pleased with them:
When the Prophet appeared from the hills overlooking Madina they sang:
The full moon has risen over us
from the moun¬tains of al-Wada`!
We must give thanks
as long as there remains one who calls unto Allah!
Narrated by Abu al-Hasan al-Khal`i in his Fawa’id and al-Bayhaqi in Dala’il al-Nubuwwa.
Invoke blessings on him…………………………………………
All good is from Allah Ta’ala whereas mistakes are from this humble speck. May Allah Ta’ala Bless all readers, bringing you all closer to Him and His Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. May He accept our humble efforts and grant us the capacity to be good and do good. Ameen.
MAsha’allah, excellent photography!
Assalamu alaikum,
Mashallah ,the best of poetry is surely that which brings us to contemplate the beauty and brilliance of Allah’s beloved chosen one ! Would love to read the above verses in Arabic as well. The heart skips a beat staring at the lake like quality of the emerald lights reflecting on the marble at night.Oh how wondrous it must be to visit there at night.
Wassalam
As-Salam Alaikum….. dear sister Umm Billal
I’m here with my wife reading your amazing post, may Allah ta’ala reward you. Continue to make dua for us so that we can come to Madinah al-Munawwarah insha-Allah during this coming year’s Hajj.
I think there was a minor typo in the following line:
“The Owner of the Throne is the Most Glorious [Ahmadu],”
It should be Mahmud so that from Mahmud the name Muhammad can be extracted. Mahmud without the waw is Muhammad.
peace and milad an-nabi mubarak to you,
Qushayri
Assalamu Elykum wa RaHmatullahi wa Barkaatuhu
Seeti Noorah have done it once again!! MashaALLAH nice collection and capturization of pictures but the thing that made me write this reply is the collection of spiritually exalted and blessed couplets by the exalted Ashab and Ahl al-Bayt ar-Rasool Sallallaho Alaihi wa Ala Aalihi wa SaHbihi wa baaraka wa Sallam … I wish I could get the Arabic text for it with some references!! Please convey my Salaams and Humble regards to Sidi G.F. Haddad and let him know that a Mureed of the Grandson of Syeduna AlaHadrat AshShaikh Imam Ahmed Rida Khan Alaihir RaHamatur Ridwan was asking him to make prayers that we all may LIVE and DIE here in Madina Munawwarah with extreme LOVE, FAITH and RESPECT!!
Now.. just to add my part as a token of devotion to this beautiful blog, I am pasting down few more sayings of the Exalted SaHaba-e-Kiram including Khulafa-e-Rashideen Ridwanullahi Ta’ala Alaihim Ajma’een praising the Mawlid an-Nabawi Sharif!!
Sheikhul Islam Allama ibn Hajr Makki (Radi Allahu Taála Anhu) in his distinguished book “An Ne’matul Kubra” quotes the blessed sayings of the Khulafa-e-Raashideen concerning Mawlid ash-Shareef. Few of these narrations are being quoted below:
Hadrat Syyeduna Abu Bakr asSiddiq (radi Allahu anhu) says, “Which ever person spends one dirham on the birthday of the Holy Prophet (SallAllaho Alaihi Wa Sallam), He will be with me in Jannah.”
Hazrat Sayyeduna Umar al-Farooq (radi Allahu anhu) says, “Whosoever has respected the Mawlad Shareef of the Holy Prophet (SallAllaho Alaihi Wa Sallam) it is as though he has revived the Deen.”
Hazrat Sayyeduna Uthman Ghani (radi Allahu anhu) says, “Whosoever has spent one dirham on the Birthday of the Holy Prophet (SallAllaho Alaihi Wa Sallam), it is as though He was present in Ghazwa-e-Badr and Hunain.”
Hazrat Sayyidina Ali al-MurtaDa (radi Allahu anhu) says that, “Whoso ever respects the Mawlad Shareef and is a means of motivating a Meelad function, He will take from this world the gift of Imaan and He will enter Jannah without any questioning.”

Now let us examine the Aqeeda (belief) of the Glorious Sahaba Ikram who are guiding beacons for us.
1. After gaining victory and success in Ghazwa Tabook when Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) arrived in Madinatul Munawwara, Hadrat Sayyiduna Abbas (radi Allahu anhu) requested permission of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) to read a few stanzas in his praise then Rahmate Alam (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said, “My dear Uncle! Go ahead. May Almighty Allah keep your mouth well.”
This is what al-`Abbas ibn `Abd al-Muttalib said:
… Before you came to this world,
you were excellent in the shadows and in the repository (i.e. loins)
in the time when they (Adam and Eve) covered themselves with leaves.
Then you descended through the ages…
When you were born, the earth shone
and your light illuminated the horizon.
We travel in that illumination and in the light and in the paths of right guidance.”
Mullah Ali al-Qari in his ‘Sharh al-Shifa’ (1:364) says it is related by Abu Bakr al-Shafi`i and Tabarani, and cited by Ibn `Abd al-Barr and Ibn al-Qayyim respectively in ‘al-Isti`ab’ and ‘Huda Nabiyy Allah (Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim)’.
This has been stated in distinguished works of great Muhaditheen such as Imam Jalaluddeen Suyuti, Muhadith ibn Jauzi, Allamah Ibn Hajr, Allamah Halbi, Allamah Dahlaan Makki, Allamah Nibhaani, Allamah ibn Abdul Birr, Allamah Haakim, Allamah Ibn Kathir and Allamah Sharistaani (radi Allahu Anhumul Ajmaeen).

3. Hazrat Hassan Bin Saabit (Radi ALLAH Anho) said:
Wa Ah’sanu Minka Lum taraqattu Aienee
I haven’t seen the lovely personality like you
Wa Ajmalu Minka Lum Talidin Nisa’u
And no mother have given birth to such a wonderful personality
Khuliqta Mubarra’am Min Kulli Aie’bin
You are created free from every fault
Ka’Annaka Qud Khuliqta Kama Tasha’u
You were created, as you wanted to be
And look what Sarkar Awarded him; Hazrat Aaisha (Radi ALLAH Anha) narrates, “Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) built a MIMBER for Hazrat Hassan (Radi ALLAH Anho) in Masjid-e-Nabawi Shareef, and Hazrat Hassan use to Recite Naats standing on that MIMBER and also use to give answers to MUSHRIKEEN on behalf of Syyeduna Muhammadur Rasoolullah (Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam). For this act of Hazat Hassan Holy Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam) said “Untill Hassan recites and give answers to mushrikeen on this MIMBER, Jibreel-e-Ameen helps him.” (Bukhari)
4. Prophet Peace Be Upon Him Migrated to Madinah Munawwarah, when he reached MoDa-e-Gameem near Madina; at that time Bareda Aslama along with 70 Horse riders of Qabeela Bani Saham came to Prophet Peace Be Upon Him to arrest him (Ma’aaz ALLAH) but because of Prophet’s blessed and wonderful personality, he got arrested in Love of Prophet Peace be Upon Him and accepted Islam along with his group. Then he asked Prophet Peace Be Upon Him that a His entrance in Madinah must be with a Flag. So, he tied his Turban on his arc and entered in Madinah with Sarkar Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam carrying that FLAG. (Wafaul Wafa, Vol1, Pg 243, published from Dar aHya’at Tarasal Arabi – Berut)
5. Hazrat Sayyeduna Hasan Basri (radi Allahu anhu) states, “I would like have gold equivalent to the Mountain of Uhud so that I should be able to spend it on the Meelad Shareef of the Holy Prophet (Sall Allaho Alaihi Wa Sallam).” (Ne’matul Kubra Pages 7/8 - Published Istanbul-Turkey)
Apart of all described above…
I need no proof to be a human…
I need no proof to be an engineer…
I need no proof to programming a software…
Everything is OK to do as long as not prohibited by Allah and His Beloved Messenger. So, there is no restriction to adore our Greatest Love in the world.
—–
You can easily remove all these false illusions, O Creator;
You have the Supreme Power and you the Absolute Controller;
Your Beloved Prophet is my intercessor.
Assalamu alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
Masha’Allah.
Dear ‘marry halal’,
If only you could be here, then the photography would pale into insignificance, the atmosphere is akin to being in the core of the pure essence of Sakinah, SubhanAllah!
Dear Umm Yusuf, indeed these nights are beyond wondrous! The moths, cats, crickets, cleaners, police and security seem to be the only ones about. Such an injection for the heart and soul.

As-Salam Alaikum…. Dear sister Umm Billal
Thank you for checking and I look forward to your update. It also made us look up the source as well, since I only recalled it from memory.
Please keep the posts coming and remember all of your visitors in your duas please. Also, please convey our warmest greetings to the Noble Messenger of Allah, Sayyiduna Muhammad b. Abdillah (sallahu alayhi wa aalihi wa sallam).
The Shifa of Qadi Iyad relates the famous line and uses the word Mahmud. See Volume 1, Chapter 3, Section 14 insha-Allah. Sayyiduna Hassan b. Thabit repeats the famous line that was spoken by the grandfather of our Habib, Abdul Muttalib.
Other sources are Dalail an-Nubuwwah of Imam al-Bayhaqi, Tarikh of Imam al-Bukhari, Mirqat of Imam Ali Qari, Fath al-Bari of Imam Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani, and so on…..
May Allah ta’ala reward you and your family with the best in the dunya and akhirah.

Plus if you could experience how the connection stumbles along, as well as some computer glitches that are way down a priority list to be fixed, and, and, and, and…. Insha’Allah some Du’a from you may see miraculous help!
Dear Sister Saimah,
